If I'm not mistaken, the Big contract was grand fathered in and a new application would have to be made to for the mini. Volumes weren't initially there to support the cost.

They (HKFE) are going to be launching a mini HHI (h-share) future in March and I think are going to seek approval for both mini products. I've got a meeting on Friday with the exchange and I'll ask about this.
