You take a risk with TigerDirect of getting shoddy hardware. If it happens, you're gonna have some serious problems getting it fixed/reimbursed, because they are scumbags when it comes to that.

While it's most likely that everything will be fine, there is a significant chance of rip-off.

Keep that in mind.

I think that you forgot one point, Gyles. What about the speed? Had read that speed of PC also matters. If slow, then you miss opportunity and money.

So, what is the good speed we need to have?
 
Thank you, TraderSystem, for pointing out the speed factor. I would like all of us to come together and think of the best suitable computer configuration running the various trading platforms.

I would be real grateful if someone gave some idea about the trading platforms and their PC requirements.

100% right. Gyles-Vista is big bs, games oriented OS. it all about DX10(with very few games for it right now) and MS pushing "games for windows". XP will be around for while and most of applications will work just fine. imo-no need to have vista at all for next 3-5 years. make sure you have at least 2gb ram and if computer for trading only-no need to have some extreme video card. cheap ones will work just as top of the line with less power consumption and noise

I had finally decided to buy parts separately i.e. to assemble the computer. The specifications were as per the requirements of TradersStudio software.

I've built a couple of machines myself by picking components piecemeal at zipzoomfly.com
