Oklahmoha pan handler busted jumping into a brand new car.

If you are so gullible you give a panhandler money you deserve to be screwed.

That's why I never give anything to beggars anymore. I don't even give money to charities outside of St. Jude's, and that's only once a year. I used to give a lot more, but I no longer care. Obama will save everyone, so I don't have to.

I make a monthly donation to the wounded warriors project.
That's pretty much it. I'm sick of supporting free loader "poor" people. They can fucking die for all I care.

I used to donate to that, too, until some SOF vets told me where the money went.

So tell me. There are other similar organizations if I need to switch.

They just were very disenfranchised with the fact that the guy who ran the program took in so much personal income during the course of the year. In all honestly, I haven't looked at the % of funds that go to actual recipients, because I just took the word of these three guys. I'm sure it's around somewhere. I'll go look for it.

Well, their website shows that 80% of the dollars donated go to "the program" which they call individuals and their families. If that's true, then it's pretty good. I haven't been able to find an independent review, though. I'm not saying cancel your pledges on the word of three vets you don't know. Just do your diligence on charities.

Edit, an independent rating at Charity Navigator shows 57.9% of the dollars going to "the program" - which is quite a bit less than the charity itself claims.

But they do have a good rating.

Steve Nardizzi, the CEO, made $311,000 last year.

"Hope for the Warriors" and "Navy Seal Foundation" both have a much better charity score and do the same work.

I think I saw this already and I did have some reservations because of it. I may look again at finding a higher rated charity. In my view charity workers shouldn't be making 6 figure salaries if they're really devoted to the charity work itself.

I'm with you. I've even begun to question St. Jude's recently because it's gotten way worse in the administration charges. Our company does a big United Way pledge, but I have an issue as the CEO of united Way makes over $1 Million in his salary.

My last employer all but coerced salaried employees to donate to United Way. I stopped when CEO was caught riding around in a limo. There is not a reason in the world for a charity executive to make that kind of money.

I'm calling wounded warriors project later to cancel my monthly donation. From what I just read on line I expect a run around. That in itself speaks volumes.

will be getting my future donations. They have an A rating.

My son nephew and brother-in-law have six combat tours between them in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even though they all came home without a scratch. I feel obligated to share my good fortune with those not so lucky. Unlike most of our career welfare parasites. These guys have actually earned my willing assistance.
