Quote from bugscoe:
But you love Ron Paul for doing it?
Ron Paul: My goal would be to get the federal government out of the entitlement business. It will be a tragedy if we continue to do what we do, because we wonât be able to finance them. If you look at Medicare and Social Secruity and Medicaid, they donât have the money. What I propose is a transitional period. Let young people get out. Take care of the people who have become so dependent on the government. Work our way out of it. Stop spending this money running a world empire and cut some of the budget that wonât hit the poor.
I believe very sincerely that you could do this. If you change the foreign policy, you could save hundreds of billions of dollars rather quickly. You could get rid of your departments. What are we doing running the Department of Agriculture to the tune of billions of dollars? The Department of Energy, the Department of Education â we just donât need those things. You could address that and still not have to be seen as attacking health-care for childrenâeven though my goal would be to make the Constitution strong enough and efficient enough that you could wean people off and let young people opt out of this soon and assume responsibility for themselves.

Lowest Tax Rates? I agree, half of American homes pay no tax. Can't get any lower than that.
SS and Medicare are bankrupt, why keep feeding a broke system?
I agree Defense spending needs to be cut, best way is to bring our troops , and my son, home. But imho, as the reason we are over there is to keep the fight in their streets and not ours, so as a result we need to also CLOSE OUR BOARDERS which will help secure and protect our citizens and also help cut the deficit, which the Dem's are unwilling to do as it will cost them registered but illegal voters.
It's nice you only focus on the leftie issues, your true colors are visible for all to see.
Quote from AK Forty Seven:
I support all this as well.I 'm fiercely anti war and want both wars ended immediately and defense spending slashed by 400-500 billion a year. With our nukes, military and around half of US households owning guns there is no reason to be spending 700 billion - 1 trillion a year on wars and defense.China an Russia spend 200-300 billion a year on defense and nobody fucks with them yet we keep padding the pockets of defense contractors and war profiteers
I agree ,close the borders, but lets not put all the blame on democrats.Reagan granted amnesty for illegals and both Bush and the 2008 GOP nominee tried to do so and Bush didn't close the border in his 8 years in office
Quote from rew:
All the numbers are meaningless, as they are stretched out over 10 years. We've seen this before, many times. The big reductions are always back loaded onto the later years, and will be completely forgotten about when those years come up. Also, most of the "cuts" are actually reductions in planned increases in spending.
The only politician with a serious proposal to cut spending is Rand Paul, whose bill would cut $500 billion this year. He would get rid of entire departments, reduce military spending, and slash foreign aid spending. I don't think he got any cosponsors, because nobody else is really willing to do what is needed to cut the deficit significantly.
Quote from Trader666:
Right, which is why Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security and interest payments will consume all government revenue by 2025 if we stay on the same trajectory.
