Has heritage.org included the temporary census hiring in their graph?

Here's another way of looking at the data:

Historical Federal Workforce Tables

Perhaps scat was referring to discretionary spending when he said, "government expansion".

I dunno, based on the BLS data (which is accurate insofar as government employees goes - since they have access to the direct data) shows a rise since Obama has been in office, does it not?

Yes, but it's not a big rise. The table [linked] puts even that in context.

I thought they did run some shit.

Let's see, according to conservatives, the liberals control Allll Education, they control of your very children. They control allll media, except Fox, who, lately, makes one wonder.

Liberals control education, media, and unions. What is left?

Oh, Wall Street. That's what is left, lol.

You ask why the Republicans don't run the education system.

Education is a primarily local institution.
Where the Republicans do run the education system, in the suburbs, and ex-burbs public education is good with high graduation rates.

False. Here in the Heartland, it is Crimson amongst these rural towns. And their graduation rates are abysmal. Graduating High School is such a big deal that these towns shut down to congratulate the ones who make it all the way through, most, do not.

Looks big enough to me. But then ANY increase, with our deficit an debt, is absurd.
Headcount alone is a, "all I have is a hammer" way of evaluating government size. Based on nothing but my own experience, I would hypothesize that headcount is up because government activity in the safety-net divisions is up. I do know that DHS has been growing. Food safety enforcement, too.
