Obama To Introduce Crackdown Measures On Tax Havens

It's just too much. If people were not so fat and lazy, there would definitely be a revolution. If the people living in the US today were similar to the people of the 18th century, there would most certainly be a revolution. There needs to be a spark, and some kind of fuel to ignite.

Lichenstien, is the only last true off shore tax haven.
That's not accurate. There are roughly 20 or so countries which refused to sign a TIEA agreement with the US (Panama, St Kitts/Nevis, Dominica, etc).

You need a spark? Take their paycheck away....that should do it...and it seems that we are heading this way (of course unless Obama is really a "saint")
:D

I really hope you're right. My fear is that people will just accept at this point whatever yoke is put on their back, just as long as it comes with some vague and unsubstantiated hope of reimbursement or justice, courtesy of big brother, somewhere down the line.

Not mine. He's already made known his broad contempt for religious rights. He'll never get my vote like that. I like his style of governance, his independent ring, his straight talk, but he's offending too many people by trashing religion. I still have one of his Governor t-shirts!

Jesse Ventura has expressed contempt for religious 'leaders' who seek to impose their religious views upon the American populace. He strongly believes in the concept of 'separation of church and state'. As such, he seeks to limit the 'right' of any religion to exert its influence upon the political processes of this country. I have seen absolutely no evidence that he seeks to restrain individuals from worship, regardless of their religious affiliation. In fact, he would say that government has absolutely no business telling people how/where/when they should express their religious beliefs, regardless of his personal feelings toward religion.

What specific evidence do you have of Ventura's 'broad contempt for religious rights'?

Yes, including the homeless drug addicts who voted for him multiple times..

The homeless and unemployed came out in record numbers this election. Why? To vote for fiscal responsibility? No, to vote for who will give the most handouts.

Right..... and that would be a majority of the nation last time I checked... who voted for him AND his pet projects. We really would have been better of with McCain and the pitbull right??

I agree with you.

Walter Williams of GMU tried the following experiment.

On his way into a restaurant, he passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote for Obama. I need the money."

The server in the restaurant proudly wore a "vote Obama" button.

After the meal, professor Williams decided to practice a little Obama redistribution. He explained to the server that the homeless guy outside needed the money more than the server, therefore he will give the tip the server earned to the homeless guy outside. The server, fuming, stormed into the kitchen.

The homeless guy was grateful for the money he didn't earn and the server got a little lesson in what he was voting for (which I'm sure he did not learn).

Dr. Williams is obviously a brilliant economics professor for those who do not know of him.

Obama advisors estimate the measure could raise at least $50bn per year in lost US tax revenues.

But isn't the US the largest Tax Haven in the world..?

The United States does not tax non-resident aliens for any interest income or dividend income derived from the United States. There is zero capital gains on profits from investments. There is no tax information shared with most foreign tax agencies.

I wonder how much money the US would lose, if it enacted the same tax haven laws it wants other countries to enact?

those foreign investors however, would

and that is not on the US budget accounting books....

Obama promised $500 to everybody if he wins .He called it stimulus package but in fact he was buying votes with taxpayers money. Brilliant if you ask me.
