Obama shuts down Gibson guitars for breaking an Indian law (not an american one)

Quote from CrackPipe:

c'mon. obama maybe no dream ticket, but hes 1 million times an improvement on monkey boy bush. i mean bush just embarrassed the whole of the usa and made the whole country look like a bunch of jubbs.

at least obama is only failing to improve your economy that monkey man screwed up, rather than screwing your economy AND your reputation overseas.

luckily, i think the world is starting to like the usa again. lets hope it continues - its a great country

Bush gave freedom to about 100 million people over in afghanistan and Iraq. How can you be embarrassed by someone that did so much good for so many people?

Then again, I suppose they called Lincoln a monkey boy too (probably not as bad because Lincoln only freed about 7 million people)

so we enforce Indian laws which protect Indian employees desire to put the finish on the wood in India... thereby screwing our own workers? The article said this action was done without the participation of the Indian Govt.

Absent some unconstitutional treaty, I doubt our "law" enforcement has a right to enforce Indian law in this manner. .

What the hell is wrong with the america hating left?

Why not enforce our border instead?

What next are we going to enforce Sharia law?

I wonder if the owner of Gibson is a conservative?

It's not politics, it's enforcement. DHS and CBP (I hate them both, btw) are not actually enforcing Indian law, but US law. If Indians have not demonstrably finished the goods in accordance with the Lacey Act, or if Gibson has made an error or omission with its import declaration, or both, it is in fact Gibson's fault. During customs normalization the "line" had to be drawn somewhere, and it made sense to put the onus on the importer, the agent that causes goods to arrive on American soil. If Gibson is fortunate, the paperwork is clerically wrong, and the goods qualify, they are only looking at a negligence penalty. If it's a pattern (I don't know Gibson's import history), they'll be looking at gross negligence. If they intended to deceive, it's fraud.

Although Obama is a fck, he is right to abide by Indian law. India is a key ally against the dark forces of Islamic terrorism, so we should keep them happy with us.

This is all so stupid, but typical of all of the agencies we must fund with tax money today.
Other agencies need to go as well: EPA, SEC, FDA

Huge waste of money and resources.
Job killers as well.

Jul 13, 2011 – The United States is viewed less favorably in much of the Arab world today than it was during the final year of the Bush administration

Jul 21, 2011 – The attitude of the Arab world to the United States is much worse now with Obama than was with Bush at the end of his term. A survey by Zogby

If you are right it was some amendment to the act done in 2008, under obama's watch.

So true. We are constantly told that we can't possibly cut any spending, then we see this kind of crap that no one outsifde of a few kooks care about. It would be one thng if Gibson was clearcutting protected forests, but this is a nitpicking document exercise.

People don't seem to understand that this kind of regulatory overkill is what is killing job formation here. When a hard left zealot like obama gets into office, he fills all the agencies with even harder left crazies and activists. They see their mandate as to attack the enemy, ie business. We have seen it with the NLRB, we have seen it with the EPA, we've seen it with gulf drilling, we've seen it with power plants, now we see even small businesses being harrassed over something that could have been cleared up with a couple of phone calls.

It'sa ironic that a real communist country like china has a better business environment than we do with a wannabe marxist as president.
