The Obama administration is moving forward with regulations designed to help diversify America’s wealthier neighborhoods, drawing fire from critics who decry the proposal as executive overreach in search of an “unrealistic utopia.”

Won't work.

The wealthy won't stand for it and will move out.... leaving only the low-priced houses because none of their occupants will be able to buy the expensive homes. Neighborhood will turn into a new ghetto before you know it.

Rent control is a great example of shit that sounds good but fails miserably. It serves as a great example of Democrat thinking. Decades ago, and this was well documented and written up in the popular press, in New Jersey rent control resulted in property owners' inability to fix up the buildings. Eventually the properties would be sold to mob guys who would set them on fire for the insurance with the tenants in the buildings.

I know I've told this story before, but I lived in Puerto Rico for a few years and I remember driving around one day for lunch and asking my GM "Why are all these neighborhoods surrounded by high walls and barbed wire? They look like prisons."

He explained that the government had this "awesome" idea one day to put projects in rich neighborhoods so that poor people might aspire to be like the rich when they saw how the rich lived. Instead, the poor never changed and the rich walled in their land to keep the poor out and you have these nice places to live in compounds surrounded by crime and filth.

"It could also tilt the balance of political power as more minorities are funneled into Republican-leaning neighborhoods, he suggested."

This is what it's about. Obama doesn't give a shit about the poor.
