Classic.

People shouldn't get mad if someone says that the troops died for the oil and defense industry.

...or just continue to keep them there, long after they should and could have been brought home.

This is according to whom exactly?

Cold harsh reality?

Dumbo could shut down ALL operations in Iraq any time he wants. Apparently he don't want to.

Quote from Lucrum:
My brother-in-law returned from his second tour in Iraq last week.
According to him, although obviously many troops are coming home, the ones remaining are doing exactly the same thing they have been doing. The administration is simply calling it something else in an apparent attempt to make it look like he has kept his campaign promise.
Quote from tomdavis:
My cousin, who left the Air Force in May, says the same thing. It's all just relabeling for political purposes. He also said that private contractors (heavily armed) are arriving by the planeload.
He said there's also a huge increase in "CIA paramilitary" in Iraq. Most of these guys are former special ops (Rangers, Seals, etc.) recruited by the CIA. They're officially counted as "intelligence assets" rather than combat personnel to disguise their missions.

He is doing what he said he will do,whether he can end everything tomorrow or close every other based around the world is a moot point.

"We should note that the present agreement between Iraq and the United States calls for all troops to be out of Iraq by the end of 2011. "

He's doing what he said, which is basicly follwing the Bush plan. Of course, if he had said while campaigning, I'm going to follow the Bush plan, he might have met some resistance.
Actually I would support a complete and immediate withdrawal of all troops from Iraq and Afganistan. Let'em pound sand. In the event of one single terrorist attack on U.S. Soil, I would light up the entire region in such a way that no living thing could exist there for a thousand years. Problem solved!

Obama campaigned for troop withdrawal long before Bush agreed to any plans by the Iraqi cabinet.

17 November 2008

"The US and Iraq will formally commit to a pact that withdraws all American forces from the country within three years, and pulls all combat troops out of most provinces by mid-2009, the Iraqi cabinet announced yesterday. The deal for the first time prescribes a timeline for an American departure from Iraq, which the US president-elect, Barack Obama, had foreshadowed as top of his foreign policy agenda when he takes office on January 20."
