I traveled a lot when Reagan restored america. I remember being in spain particularly but also in the rest of Europe and seeing quite a bit anti Reagan and anti american slogans. There was a strong resentment in the hater class and the leftists. But, of course back then we did not care about them.
At the same time many other Europeans loved us and our dollars. Traveling in Yugoslavia was amazing at the time. One other note... of course the Parisians were as arrogant as they could be, but the rest of France really seemed to like Americans.
I believe both Bush and then Obama took us down notches. The question is which notches, how many notches and from which observers.
My argument would be that Obama took us down quite a few notches in the eyes the people Obama was attempting to please. Bush took us down in their eyes too... but he was not attempting to please them.
I have done a lot of traveling and know what your talking about. The fact of the matter is America is the lone superpower in the world. America is number 1. There are always going to be a group of losers who hate it no matter what simply because of its status. It is sort of like people who hate NY Yankees, the Patriots, Duke Basketball, Lebron James, Tiger Woods, etc.
If you are on top, people will find a reason to hate you. If you fall down a few notches like Woods, then they really pile on.
Perhaps the lowest of the low is Castro. Here is a loser that railed against America for years. His country is now a complete shithole stuck in the 1950s. Castro turns around and blames his failed policies on America. What a jerkoff! This guy is a hero of the left by the way.
