I completely agree that NY is #1 pretty much across the board. But as a born and bred NY'er I must give Chicago its props. It is the only other large real city in the US. A NY'er can be instantly comfortable there.
More than 40 years ago -- 1968 -- my first non drug related business trip out of town (HEY ... it was the 60's), my first real buisness trip was to Chicago. I wanted to get it right and called the guy at the other end to check on last minute details maybe once to often. In the last call -- he really did not want another one -- he said to me:
"Tom, what are you worried about. We have all the right people bribed on this end!"
I cracked up and knew it would be a good trip.
