And we can be proud to have lived in the same timeframe... :-)

I think its like $1.5M to $2M depending on the neighborhood. In Silicon Valley you have to have generational wealth (aka the Bank of mom & dad) or a $400K job at the FAANG companies to live in a 1600 sf house. Its crazy here. I think in Palo Alto the average house is like $3M-$4M.

To keep things in perspective, in Singapore a 1500 sqft apartment sells for 2M and in Sydney you get 1000 sqft for 2M. Except for very specific and few zip codes, the US is relatively cheap to live in.
