Nuclear Fail by Obama - Russian bombers in CA

Glad you're OK! So from your all-knowing perch in London, it's "common sense" to dismiss as "groundless paranoia" skepticism of what the Obama administration discloses, especially if it would make them look even weaker as politics ramp up for the midterm elections? :D When/if you have evidence that skepticism about the openness and veracity of this administration is unwarranted, please don't hesitate to share it.
I could be mistaken, but wasn't the statement about the Russian flights made by the Commander, Pacific Air Forces, rather than the Obama administration spokesperson? Is your opinion of your nation's four star generals so low that you believe that they're, essentially, politicians working for whoever happens to be running the show at any given time? If that's the case, you got bigger things to worry about than Russian bombers, I daresay.

Though not addressed to me I'd like to weigh in. In short, yes. Five years ago, no.
But the Obama regime has engaged in a Stalin style purge of our military, with comparable results.

And yes it is worrisome for any thinking person. He is literally demilitarizing the military and militarizing numerous federal agencies.

Well, sire, if this is the case, the American people appear to be well and truly f*cked... To be fair, the four star general in question has been serving in the Air Force for nearly 40 years now. Hopefully, he's a proper career soldier, with no political agenda. Still, I freely admit I don't know what's been happening...
I agree with JJ. Putin would be sitting with his head-down in the corner had our mil not been decimated.
Is the decimation a result of the current administration's policies, you think, or the natural outcome of the budgetary constraints imposed by the crisis and/or the costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

being that democrats print at will with the help of the fed... its obama.

Pretty much. Our only "hope" going "forward" is Obama's impeachment, assassination or otherwise untimely death.
I'm not very optimistic.

Just making it to the rank of general requires a bit of politics, unfortunately. But on the surface at least that would imply he's somewhat believable. Unless of course he sold himself out as we so often hear of our career politicians doing.

I see your point, but would the nominal personnel count be higher or lower had we sat through 13 years of peacetime? Would we have any sort of NMD (set into high gear in 2002)? I am/was not a fan of Cheney/Wolfowitz FP.

I don't know, honestly... I am wondering myself.

To be honest, I also recognise that I have a bias, as I hate the neocon ideologues, may they burn in hell, with a passion. So I tend to blame them for everything. It's probably excessive.

In reality it all amounts to a hill of dicks. MAD is still in effect. I think most foreign policy and aggressive moves (non-US) are posturing for an eventual anti-NMD treaty.

And FWIW I am centrist.
