NRA Hijinks

You may have me on that. I didn't know 5.56 ammo was available in subsonic. However, mini-gun surely does not. :) And even so, you might want to check penetration characteristics and types of ammo. Home defense rounds are intended to not overpenetrate.

I was obviously joking on the mini gun. As for subsonic, 75 grain is available in 5.56. I keep that stocked for use with suppressor (as subsonic is really the only way to use a suppressor at close range for it to work as intended).

I've done tests on the 5.56 ammo I use at the range. The pistol ammo I use is all hollow point, and it's not going through anything but the perp.

Gomen. I falsely got the impression you didn't have guns yet. :(

LOL! Hell no, my friend. My weapons:

Walther PPS .40 (concealed choice)
Sig Sauer P226 .40
H&K mr556a (EOTech holo dot / Trijicon ACOG)
LWRC REPR (nightforce scope)

Those 4 weapons cost me around $14k with all the trimmings and scopes.

What about "overpenetration"? Isn't there some accountability if your round goes through your perp, through your walls, through the neighbor's walls and kills somebody?

to avoid that...just use hollow-point

I've got more than you, but mine aren't as good as yours. Well, maybe they are as good/effective up to 25 yards.... in daylight. :)

Some of my friends have hundreds of weapons. I don't get that. I buy my guns for task, not to collect them, and I can only fire one at a time (I guess I could dual wield the pistols if I wanted to be silly)...

One pistol is for concealed carry. The other is a home defense, higher capacity. The HKmr556 is the "house clearer" (with suppressor) and the REPR is my reach out and touch someone (I shoot 550 yards with it).

Me too. My only gun objective nowdays* is home defense. Have guns scattered about the house, teaching wife to handle them and shoot "accurately enough" in case ever needed.

*I was on HS ROTC rifle team.... once got to shoot "official Army qualification" on Ft. Carson's gun range w/M-14
