That fact that you put your faith in them is what gives you that initial boost. It is a kind of placebo effect that results when you embark on what you believe to be positive, corrective action. Hopefully, the course on which you have embarked will have enough substance to provide the necessary follow-through when the initial novelty of "doing something" wears off. It is that follow-through that I question.Quote from mschey:
Whoever gets results is whom I want to go to. Real results is what it is all about! I don't care if they are a business man, a chinese monk, or a shaman, if they can get it done that's what matters most.

Doesn't the word "franchisee" seem out of place in this context? Speaking only for myself, I'm not sure I would want my mental health issues attended to by "businessmen" who invested in a "franchise."
At least modern health care is still attended to by doctors. You can become a "Master NLP Practitioner" in a matter of days or a couple of weeks or so, if you spend enough money. Can you not see the difference?Quote from marketsurfer:
most people do it all the time.
modern health care, mental and otherwise, is big business.

Quote from Steve Tvardek:
As far as trading is concerned, I want to become more risk tolerant in the situations I deem as good opportunities. As of now, I consider myself a solid trader but I can see myself hitting a wall at some point if I don't open myself up to taking on more risk. Everyone I work with praises me concerning how disciplined I am day in and day out and, while I am very happy to have that skill, I'd like to improve my offensive game.
As far as other things, I'd like to place more importance on getting in good shape again. I played D1 baseball and was always playing sports growing up but these days I do less and less physical activity. I'm 6'2 195 so I am not heavy for my height but i'd like to make a lifestyle change for the better and "create" the habit of doing regular exercise. For some reason, I cant get myself started again. And as traders, its probably even more important to help deal with the stresses associated with what we do.
Basically, I just want to see if these mental blocks we put up in our own heads can be taken down through NLP.

I did a three days course in NLP and later on the Da Silva method.
It was an experience but i didnt' get any valuable results.
These things are probably good for people who are open for these kind of things or for people who are so desperate that they will try anything. To me it is more or less brainwashing. You have to fool your own brain and convince it that something isn't what the brain thinks it is.
Example: people with constant headache keep telling themselves that they don't have a headache until their brain believes they don't have a headache. But i have seen people for who it worked. It all depends on the person.
I compare it with praying to the Lord. For some it helps for others not.
I did the two courses out of curiosity. Costed me more then2000$ in total.

I have to agree with market surfer on this one. I have use Anthony Robbins material for many years now, and I find it particularily useful when trading gets tough.
