Nike becomes first NFL sponsor to take a side in Trump vs NFL

Because what I discuss is not drivel in any sense of the word. I am in the process of putting the multinicks on ignore but leaving open a few like Pekelo and Tony to continue reading some of the flavor.
You are on to something, keep up the good work..Dont listen to anyone, trust your instincts.

No, there isn't a "myriad" of reasons, there's one reason that stands alone. Politics. Now they're claiming the viewers miss Peyton Manning. After listening to the endless B.S. of politics all f'n week, people want entertainment, just plain old entertainment. It's just not that difficult to figure out unless you're one of the many excuse makers for the thugs in pads who have a message to send. Well, we have a message to send back. Fuck you and your protest.

NFL television viewership has fallen the past two seasons, although trying to figure out exactly how much isn’t an exact science since television executives will point to streaming numbers that offset some losses.

Regardless, pure television viewership is down. In 2015, NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” averaged 22.522 million viewers. In 2017 it was 18.175 million, a decrease of 19.3 percent.

“Monday Night Football” saw a 17.2 percent drop (12.986 million to 10.757 million) over the two seasons. “Thursday Night Football” was down 11.9 percent (12.425 million to 10.937 million).

The reasons are myriad. Protesting players. Colin Kaepernick not being signed in 2017. CTE discomfort. President Donald Trump’s rips of the league. There is also the fact that a surge in popularity for daily fantasy in 2015 may have pushed numbers to unsustainable highs. Plus technology has decreased viewership of all television.

It’s any of these things. It’s all of these things.

There is one other reason that has gotten scant attention but may be a bigger contributing factor than most realize.

Peyton Manning.

Or more specifically, no Peyton Manning.

Do me the favor of putting me on ignore. Let's say I am the same user as Futurecurrents.

NFL opener ratings down big for second year in a row.
It was up against a Trump speech.

https://deadline.com/2018/09/eagles-nfl-kickoff-game-ratings-down-falcons-nbc-1202459228/

With a 13.4/5 in the metered markets, the post-midnight ending game is down 8% from last year’s kickoff of September 7, 2017. In one of the lowest season openers ratingswise and facing portions of a cable news-covered rally by a very NFL critical President Donald Trump, last night’s game is not only down from last year, but 2016, 2015 and 2014 – all of which saw successive declines.

To add more injury to that, the 2017 8:42 PM ET-starting season opener between the victorious Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots ended up with a weak 7.7/29 rating among adults 18-49 and 21.8 million viewers. That was a double digit decline from 2016 and the worst total audience an opening game had since 2009.

Many of the local bars are not even showing the NFL games on TV. Last week & this week people seem more interested in the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament and other sports than the NFL --- so the bars have these other sports up on their TVs.
