Trump had no chance of winning last time- except he did. I would not have bet a dime on his winning last time, nor would I bet a dime that he will win next time or even run.
Ironically, Trump is like one of these California new age Law of Attraction types. He just puts this idea in his head that he is going to win and starts creating his own reality around it and you have to roll with it. The election/campaign last time was one of the goddamnest most mindboggling things in modern history to watch.
People are acting as though Trump is putting his foot in his mouth and doing stupid things these days so that will be the end of it. Shit, the campaign was just one frigging disaster after another as far as Trump going too far, over and over and over again yet he still won. But now people are beginning to revert back to fine tuned discussions about polling. It can't be understood that way. The polls were as worthless as tits on a nun last time in regard to translating favorability ratings into what people will actually do when they get in the voting booth yet pontificators keep going back to them because we don't like uncertainty- like a trader who has lost a pantload relying on technical analysis but just keeps going back trying to fine tune his frigging ichimoku cloud or something. That dog don't hunt.
The leftoids crow about how there were all these lib voters who are out there but did not vote because they though Hillary was going to win but they will get them next time. Well, guess what, there are millions of republican voters who stayed home because they also thought that Hillary was just going to be coronated so why bother? Now they- just like the leftoids- are having to live with the reality that is actually electable. And yes, I understand the lefty argument that he is not electable because their ichimoku cloud says he is not. Except there he is.
Then there is this argument that a crude peasant like Trump won only because he was up against a criminal loser like Hillary. Okay, sorta. That was a big part of the picture for sure. But keep in mind that he beat out about 11 other candidates in the primary who offered up all sorts of mild mannered civilized approaches- Kasich, Jeb, etc. So he prevailed even in a primary election that offered up a full slate of other candidates- and with the polls- predicting every step of the way that he was really just a consideration rather than a real contender- until they could not make his winning in various states go away.
No punchline here. Just sayin. Be careful about trying to understand the Trump phenomenon from either polls or what his foot-in-mouth for today is. That has not been a reliable way of predicting when he will go away.
