NFL Ponzi Scheme In Danger Of Collapsing

Doesn't that describe every sport? Or every TV show?

Somewhat. I admit it's not a perfect analogy. A Ponzi scheme implies that there is fraud involved at some point. The NFL isn't literally defrauding anyone, except maybe its advertisers who had a reasonable expectation that league management wouldn't go out of its way to antagonize fans.

However, a lot of fans do feel somewhat betrayed. They made an emotional investment in their teams in expectation that they were investing in football, not BLM/Trump bashing politics.

The league, owners and union are meeting to try and get past the Anthem controversy. I'm afraid the league doesn't quite get it. This has always been a two part issue. Part one is disrespecting the flag. Part two however is their assumption that everyone should automatically support the players' calls for "social justice" and an end to "racial repression," which are meaningless code words for the BLM/SJW agenda.

“We also care deeply about our players and respect their opinions and concerns about critical social issues. The controversy over the anthem is a barrier to having honest conversations and making real progress on the underlying issues. We need to move past this controversy, and we want to do that together with our players.” Statement from Commissioner Goodell. https://apnews.com/b8554616573c45c1...,-players-to-meet-on-social-issues-and-anthem

Most of us would be satisfied if they just stopped committing felonies, beating up people and taking drugs. Get back to us then with your political agenda. We do not want our football with an offering of leftwing politics. Just STFU and do what you're paid obscenely to do. How hard is that to grasp?

Hell, I can live with their antics off the field. On game day just play the f'n game, and as you say, collect the damn money they're paid and go about their business. Why in the hell is that so difficult to understand? Of course, these are the same type people who just can't grasp to STFU, don't resist, and do as instructed when a cop has a gun on you.

I don't have a problem with any of this and agree personally. Just don't think ponzi scheme is the right analogy. Plenty of ponzi schemes in our government and country. The NFL isn't one, though.

NFL to allow players to kneel during anthem without penalty

The NFL will continue allowing players to kneel during the national anthem at games, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Tuesday, according to Reuters.

“We spent today talking about the issues that our players have been trying to bring attention to. About issues in our communities to make our communities better,” Goodell said at a news conference following a meeting between officials and team owners in New York.

The meeting included officials from the NFL and the NFL Player's Association, as well as 11 team owners and 13 NFL players who have protested during the national anthem.

“Today’s discussion with our players was very productive and very important. It reflected our commitment to work together with our players on issues of social justice,” Goodell stated.

According to Reuters, the NFL representatives did not press upon players not to kneel, but instead talked about ways to help them in their activism.

Goodell had previously said that "everyone should stand" for the national anthem, amid growing pressure for the NFL to take an official stance on the controversial protests.

Malcolm Jenkins of the Philadelphia Eagles said after the meeting that there was no talk of penalties against players who protested, according to the New York Times.

Focusing on all this side bullshit instead of the core mission is exactly why the Navy is increasingly becoming known for collisions at sea.

When a team starts having weekend offsites to discuss how they feel about kneeling, some of them won't be bright enough to understand why they are losing their edge and the team is losing and they are working down at the Red Lobster with Colin Crockernak.

In reality the NFL took no action and has not changed any policies. The one post meeting question he answered showed that the NFL was exploring alternative ways to protest (e.g. armbands, cleats, etc.) -- which in my opinion would be the best path forward for the league, player, and fans. Allowing the players to get their point across without being buried in a disrespect controversy over standing for the national anthem.
