New PC. What to do now?

Quote from fhl:

I just got Mcafee and this morning mcods.exe began taking over my computer. Google search gave me no answers as to how to get it to stop. Do any of you know what I am talking about? Does anyone know what to do with this thing?
Help appreciated.

Description

mcods.exe is a process belonging to McAfee VirusScan which protects your computer against Internet-bound threats such as spyware and trojans which can be distributed through e-mail or attack directly to the computer allowing unauthorized access to your computer

It's free for first year through one of the brokers I use. I switched from norton.

The reason I asked (and at the risk of being flamed because some here say "McAfee is great"), is because I don't care for McAfee. It's probably better than Norton, but I've always taken it off of my machines in the favor of the good free apps.

has anyone ever tried to create a cascaded network? i did, but for some reason TWS gets disconnected a lot.
