New Coronavirus Variant (Omicron; B.1.1529) a ‘Serious Concern’ in South Africa

You should only start to worry when people begin to become infected with Omicron that did not travel to South Africa or anywhere in Africa regardless of their vaccination status...

It is in every state of the union, and is in every country now.

Why is this concept so difficult to comprehend?

How many times do I have to post shit like this to make people understand? I feel like a broken record...

You have memory problems ?

We already know it's in the United States...the issue now is when/if it develops into community spreading among those that have not been traveling abroad. The answer to that will not be answered for a few weeks and then you're going to see a change in the public health agency policy if community spread is validated.

The goal is to slow the spread.

It was impossible to

The guy in Minnesota did NOT travel to South Africa. He went to NY for a convention, came back, and now NY is infected.

Of course, NY is NOT home to some of the busiest international airports in the world, but I digress.

Just watching the news… this NYC anime convention included 50,000+ people not only from the U.S. but from around the world including Japan, Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Not surprising that NYC had become the primary outbreak location. It is the largest east coast gateway for international travel. With Miami being the second U.S. east coast international gateway but with travel more focused to South & Latin America plus Caribbean.

That was my bad. I was being facetious and sarcastic. Sometimes I forget to put up the meter in my posts...

How come nobody is focusing on Atlanta, which is the busiest airport in the USA?

This is the one that probably has Minnesota and New York Public Health Agencies a lot more worried than the cases in Colorado and California.

It's possible he became infected from someone that had traveled to Africa but only had symptoms so mild...the person took a few Tylenol for a few days and felt normal. Also, probably wasn't contacted traced too. :D

I'm very curious about these people's health status prior to becoming Covid positive, their age, gender, and why the fuck were they visiting a low vaccination country in the middle of a Pandemic. :D

For example, most of those in Africa have been < 40 years of age, university students or worked in the university environment.

What the fuck...I thought those types of "international global conventions" had stopped because of the Pandemic.

Does that mean the Playboy Mansion Centerfold convention is back on ???

:D

It is all irrelevant. This is all that matters, for the 400th time...

You guys do know what this video represents, yes?

Atlanta is the busiest airport in the U.S. However it is only 7th in North America for the highest number of internationa flights per day. The international terminal at Hartsfield is actually not all that big (comparatively) once you take their airport train to it.

I'm glad you don't make Public Health Decisions. Seriously, without the info I mention...they will not know which county in each state needs resources as the spread continues to grow and if the infection begins to result in hospitalization.
