Need interview advice

I was wondering what you said exactly to the human resources representative to sell yourself.

I mean, one dui that was 5 years ago can be explained away and might be acceptable. However, you said that you had a 10 year drinking history and a few duis, not just one.

I would be interested in hearing how you went about selling this...

Basically, before I turned in my application, I called the HR Manager and explained how I had an issue with alcohol and that it has caused me to get in trouble with the law. I also explained how I have taken ownership of the issue and what I have done in order to stay true to being sober. Also, I produced 3 recommendations from a former employer aware of my issues, an employer after I became sober, and my councelor who helped me overcome this challenge.

Thats a smart way of approaching it. Good choice and i'm happy to hear it paid off!

The main reason I posted here is for support. In my situation, support has always been the most important part of the process. The posts regarding my question proves that support is available if you ask for it.

If anyone else has an issue like this and needs some support. I would be more than happy to give back what has been given to me.
