For those who care.

I spoke to the HR manager and explained my situation. After speaking with her, she thanked me for being open and honest.

I was offered the job and I accepted.

I was wondering what you said exactly to the human resources representative to sell yourself.

I mean, one dui that was 5 years ago can be explained away and might be acceptable. However, you said that you had a 10 year drinking history and a few duis, not just one.

I would be interested in hearing how you went about selling this...
