Well its a good thing that the vaccine is so effective that people who take it don't get COVID!

Herd immunity, right!

Note that ALL vaccines have breakthrough cases among the vaccinated in a population where the disease is prevalent. This is no different with Covid.

The way to eliminate the problem is to get everyone vaccinated ensuring the population has reached herd immunity levels thereby causing Covid-19 not to be prevalent in society -- hence ending the pandemic. In the same way measles, polio, and other diseases have effectively been removed from society.

In regards to Covid -- the vaccinated breakthrough rate is under 0.5%. The worldwide vaccinated deaths are under 0.03% of those vaccinated. And over 95% of the the Covid hospitalizations and deaths in the U.S. are unvaccinated. All which serve to prove the effectiveness of Covid vaccinations.

Colin Powell didn't achieve herd immunity with his vaccine, I guess.

As we already know, the temporary immunity from these vaccines is short lived and measured in a couple of months, after that, it is gone. Question is, will Colin Powell's natural immunity would have saved him from future Corona Virus infections and for longer periods of time? We will never know. As an aside, Louis Gossett was on his death bed when he begged his doctor and was given Ivermectin. He recovered and now back to normal.

Gossett a cancer survivor prior to the Pandemic while Powell was being treated for cancer during this Pandemic and some of the individuals in his environment were not vaccinated...huge difference.

Regardless, those with breakthrough Covid infection still have an exponential chance at survival than those that are not vaccinated.

Simply, an individual with a current life-threatening cancer that's not vaccinated and hoping to survive a Covid infection...has less of a chance at survival in comparison to the same person being fully vaccinated.

I had a college professor in Immunology class that stated...

Natural Immunity is deadly at the beginning of a Pandemic but important (not more important than vaccination) towards the end of a Pandemic.

Covid "natural immunity" has several issues the first being over 1/3 of the people infected with Covid never develop any anti-bodu immunity -- as seen in several peer-reviewed mainstream studies. In a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study of those with prior COVID-19 infection, 36 percent did not form any antibodies against the virus. This is in stark contrast to antibody formation in 100 percent of (non-immunocompromised) people who receive even one dose of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna), as impressively reported in the large vaccine trials.
