Nationwide French protest over right to retire at age 60

isn't it laughable that europeans think they have any chance at maintaining a standard of living comparable to that of the US when you compare the completely different work ethic standards between the two areas. not only do they want to retire at 60 (which we work beyond) they also want to take from 12-3 off each day and get several multiples the amount of vacation we get each year. even with the lazy youth of america that is growing up these days too spoiled (of which i'm one of them) - our work ethic puts europe to shame- but we are then put to shame by asians.
we will follow the same footsteps of europe in my opinion, our 21st century will be their lagging 20th century, and our 22nd century will be the oblivion europe sees looming in the 21st century.

Maybe we can learn something from the French. Perhaps there's more to life than working 70 hour weeks until you drop, and for what? So some economic terrorist's can come in and wipe it all out in an instant, all of it facilitated by a criminally corrupt government? Viva La France!
985 EUR for 60% of the population? Sounds like the BEST argument against Socialism.
Despite Capitalism's "unequal sharing of the wealth" (EARNED, of course)... IT STILL PROVIDES THE HIGHEST STANDARD OF LIVING FOR THE MOST PEOPLE... (bitching "it's not fair that somebody makes more than me" notwithstanding)..
I spent 6 years in school after high school and graduated Summa Cum Laude (in science, not basket weaving). My wife spent 11 years in school/training after high school. Don't you think we EARNED the privilege to make more than others who didn't bother to complete such educations? Even more than most?
(BTW... no government subsides nor government-backed loans for either of us.)
And what happens when the criminals in our government/banking system decide to come in and destroy the value of all you have saved? I don't expect the government to take care of me, but I'd like them to get out of my way. While we're on the subject of novel ideas, here's one. How's about congress quits embezzling the SSN fund? Problem solved!
Not really. The term "égalité" you are referring to was orignally introduced in the Man Rights Declaration after the revolution to establish that law and justice were to be the same for everyone regardless of one's social background.

Socialism was affordable in the golden ages of real economical growth and real wealth creation. Today with a global, higly competitve economy, it's suicidal. The real wealth is being created in China and developing countries. We are just printing money and inflating our growth with currencies tricks. Let's face it, Europe and the US as we have know them are over regardless of their political or economical choices.
