I agree with this. I'd go a step further and just remove the reasons Illegals come here. Take away public schooling, make it impossible to drive. No medical insurance. No employment opportunities. No food stamps. Zippo. Children born from illegal parents don't get citizenship.
This is a very good point that you make. It goes to the heart of why we have illegals here in the first place. But unfortunately it doesn't say anything about why we don't do the things you suggest would be very effective in driving the number of illegals to virtually zero. In reality, all we need to do is one of the things you suggest and everything else will follow, and that is: " No employment opportunities. " (This, by the way, is why other civilized countries do not have an illegal immigration problem!.)
The reason we haven't done these things, that would undoubtedly be effective, though some of these things would be inhumane, is because U.S. employers want to hire at low wages and not have to pay benefits. In other words, our influx of illegals is part of another indirect tax payer subsidy of U.S. business, from small business owners, local contractors, etc., right up through major corporations and things like gulf courses and country clubs. And it is an inescapable conclusion that the policies of the republican party are far more at fault here than the democrats . The democrats recognize why these illegals are here. They don't want to shift blame on the illegals. They recognize the real reason there are so many illegals here. And it's why our enforcement has been so weak under Republican administrations. Illegals were wanted by U.S. business, particularly by big agriculture. It was the democratic Obama administration that really cracked down on illegal immigration, but at the same time wanted to recognize that DACA kids were here through no fault of their own.
The flow of illegals is now at a forty year low, but that is due to steps taken by Obama. Trumps posturing is all for show. He is quite successfully pulling the wool over the eyes of his hapless, naive supporters.
I am in support of everything you suggest. But we can't do these things to those who are here because we wanted them here. I strongly believe we should invest in and help our DACA kids who are here because their parents were wanted as cheap labor by American business. Lets draw a line; turn over a new leaf; put into practice everything you suggest. But the only measure we need to take is strict enforcement of E-verify and to come done very hard on every employer of illegals. Lets not be ungrateful ungrateful jackasses by punishing the wrong people, i.e., those who have been here for some considerable time because they were wanted by American employers. The vast majority worked hard, paid taxes, and are not felons. We also must recognize the value of
legal immigration and the reality that we need immigrants for a healthy society and economy.
You have the right idea. Your ideas need to be selectively and carefully implemented. We have an asshole as a President, but we don't have to be an asshole nation. (By the way there is one thing we can never do and remain civilized. And that is to deny emergency medical care to anyone whether illegally, temporarily, or permanently in our country.) But if we crack down on employers of illegals, there will be very, very few here illegally, and providing medical assistance won't be a significant problem.
