Given that we've untethered money from gold, all we would have to do is print up the money if they should be so impertinent as to want it back.

And the krugman acolytes would cheer and give high fives when we did just that. Not even bothering to think about the depreciating value of the dollars in their own wallets.

So you have most of your money short treasuries then?

I'm amazed at how many people especially here seem to be dead certain that massive inflation is not only just around the corner but actually already here but hidden by the gubment. However none of them have put their money where their mouth is and gone short treasuries, which is what you'd do if you truly believed that.

Giant companies and banks have massive debts. HSBC has $1 Trillion assets. They must sell of their multi-trillion assets and pay the debts.

Indeed they should be living within their means. Many a company has fallen by greedy management over paying themselves.
