Whats up with the hostility??
As far as I can tell, it hates me because I've learned more about options in the last three years than it has in its entire life - and I
dare to say things about what I know without seeking its approval. [shrug] I don't get that kind of jealousy, but I do recognize it. Incompetents always feel like anyone even slightly better than them is "showing them up", and... oh, the flailing of the wounded vanity is quite something to see.
I don't boast much about being smart - that's mostly a matter of genetics - but I
am a good student. This has long served me as an excellent diagnostic: good, decent people with integrity always cheer others on even if they can't participate themselves (and that's the set of people that I want for my friends.) Those who are consumed by hatred and fear of being shown up... yeah, that's mud I try to keep off my shoes. Or, in the case of those who open their traps to spout that hatred, use as cannon fodder for my sense of humor (which is usually quite kind... but not when I let it off the leash. <shrug> We all have our little faults.)
Just one of life's little secrets that makes it much more pleasant.
P.S. On that topic: I'll never forget a certain professional trader here who complimented me on my "2nd floor" abilities, at a time when I was feeling quite uncertain that I was up to the job at all. Thank you for that kindness. I owe you a beer or ten if we ever meet up.
As I recall, my recommendation to those who supported that idea was a rectally-inserted garden hose with the water turned on full blast. Gotta wash those Gates microchips out...
