My option trades

Quote from kinggyppo:

no one is punting on IBM here?

Generally, earnings-trades are moronic. Define the edge loss (marketable spread > fairval) compared to the don't pass line at craps. I doubt most here are playing less than 3% edge loss. in what amounts to a coin-flip.

Not calling anyone out, just IMO.

doesn't excite me just curious, too close to the high and this thing is up a ton. Gun to the head I would buy it.

I have a bit of a loss on BIDU trade too...

But I'm holding on to see what happens tomorrow and maybe Thursday too... otherwise I'll close with a loss..

LMAO. Yeah, all the brainiacs AT MIT worked for months to hack into FF's ET account. What a tool.

Don't mock him.
When life hands him lemons, he makes applesauce or something.

I recon I could do it.. so long as overlaying a synthetic vega offset by sizing cash stops at the right price steps .. still counts as a straddle.

Maybe.

edit - Do margin calls count as a vega offset?

No bites?

I´ll post this for my fellow novices. Just got off the line with HELP in TOS.

I was showing a line that I was exposed the QQQ index. Turned out I had a CALENDAR trade a week ago. I tried for the last two hours of expiration FRIDAY to close the CALENDAR, but it would not get closed. I figured they did some kind of cash settlement on the short side.
Blissfully going along, I´ve been clearing my account, this week, so I can start with a couple of fresh strategies should the occasion arise. Anyway, I had this short -100 QQQ showing on my trade positions. It had a small profit, but didn´t know what it was?
Turned out I should have bought back the short side of the CALENDAR spread on expiration Friday a week or so ago. I thought the exchange did that stuff? Apparently not so in an index trade.

So lesson learned; when trading the CALENDAR SPREAD, the expiration week short contracts have to be closed independently, if you are unable to close the spread itself.

Boyooooo! The things I´m learning, no end to it.
