My message to Romney

Quote from RCG Trader:

The difference over there versus over here is that liberals have been winning over here, conservatives are winning over there. Conservatives win over there because they have a defacto theocracy in place, and the President cannot call out tanks when nutbirds hang women in public. The conservative Imams have too much power.
Yes, but while we still have guys with funny hats here, so to speak, there remains work to be done. While I do believe in the freedom of religion, however absurd and disruptive I may find religion to be, I also believe in the freedom of progress to reshape the minds of the future.

Quote from Tsing Tao:

The below video is an excellent interview where Wafa Sultan does a phenomenal job explaining why we are where we are.

That lady really lays it out in terms that are compelling. I'm sure some Muslims are plotting to cut her head off as I type this. What she says it too truthful for them to not.

Quote from Brass:

See, Tsing, the Cap'n has gone feral.

Obama needed to calm the waters by distinguishing between the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion. The Middle East doesn't quite share those freedoms and they don't necessarily like it being shoved down their throat in their own home. The Internet brings it to their door. When you want to enact change, you have a better chance of doing it with baby steps than with one fell swoop. Maturity and emotional intelligence dictate that you empathize with the person with whom you are trying to negotiate a beneficial solution. If you don't see it from his side, he sure won't make the effort to see it from yours. So who will be the better man and take the first step? Oh, look. It was Obama. Not Romney, who was ready to get into their faces.

As for not seeing a single person in any position of authority echoing this fine woman's words, remember that real change happens at the grass roots. The West must keep cultivating those grass roots.

The Cap'n is playing a game. Stay down here long enuf one can get pretty good at emulating those idiots.

Please stop using the word Conservative to describe dictatorial religious governments.

I am a conservative. I am not even in the same galaxy of thought as the folks that run theocratic muslim countries.

I'll agree with most of what you said. The only issue is that any soft tone of explanation is seen as weakness from Islam. It is more than likely that the video released did more harm than good. The radicals took it as weakness, and those who are level headed already knew the US government had nothing to do with the video.

The irony is that a secular Iran was on the horizon, and we decided to install the Shah. The question is, do we really want a strong, secular middle east? We help Al-Queda in Libya, which made no sense at all to me. We had to know that the power vacuum would create an opening for another conservative group, the Muslim Brotherhood.

We claim to want democracy for the world, until the elections are counter to our national interest, then we topple that government and install a government that will set that nation back a generation or two.

Iran has yet to recover from the Shah.

To those conservatives, you are a liberal, a RINO, a stinking moderate who would seek compromise with the enemy. And lest we forget, there is a large contingent seeking to "return America to it's Christian roots".....a theocracy by any name......

You seem to be late to the Tea Party, Tsing.:D

RCG do you even have a slight clue as to what you say? Sometimes I think you really believe that Jedi Knights are going to ride to the rescue.
