Fox News' Chris Wallace: Rudy Giuliani 'Awfully Optimistic' To Think Mueller Probe Is Over

Fox News host Chris Wallace warned Friday that President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani is being “awfully optimistic when he says it’s the end of the investigation” now that special counsel Robert Mueller has turned in his report to Attorney General William Barr.

Giuliani told Fox White House correspondent John Roberts that “this marks the end of the Russia investigation. We are confident that there is no finding of collusion by the president.”

But Wallace warned: “We don’t want to rush to judgment. To say that somehow this clears the president seems like the height of rushing to judgment.”

He added: “We don’t know what’s in the report; let’s be clear about that. We don’t know what Mueller found.”

Even reports that Mueller isn’t recommending any more indictments don’t “really say very much ... because .... the Justice Department’s policy has been that you can’t indict a sitting president,” Wallace noted. “So that doesn’t mean that they either found or didn’t find anything wrong in terms of the actions of the president.”

We have to “obviously wait and see” what’s going to be released, Wallace said.

“If you take the argument that the president can’t be indicted, then the only possible avenue under the Constitution would be possible impeachment” in the event of crimes, he added.

House Democrats are “going to say we want to see what Mueller found with regard to the president so we can make an independent determination as to whether he is subject to high crimes and misdemeanors under the Constitution.”

Areas of weakness in national security are exactly the things which will be redacted. Beyond that, continued and never ending investigation is all the dems have left moving towards 2020. Better come up with something other than abortion on demand up to and including birth, open borders, adopting radical Islam as the new protected class, and orange man bad. Trump should be easy to beat with a solid platform delivered by a reasonably sane candidate. So far that's limited to old white guys and they ain't exactly making the base wet with anticipation.

So as a right winger, you complaining about never ending investigations is funny. Go tell Trey Gowdy that nonsense.

Haha so you think the bozos in congress are going to put forth a meaningful investigation?

If Mueller and a team of 100 DC attorneys couldn't find anything over a two year span, the political hack Adam Schiff surely isn't going to find anything.

Name the last time a congressional investigation (from either R's or D's) amounted to anything other than grandstanding for the cameras so their constituent monkeys applaud their pretend outrage.

It's over. Time to admit it.

Riiiiight. You don’t know what is in the report and you don’t know what’s been handed off or under seal.

Democrats have a much better investigative body than republicans. Don’t underestimate Schiff they have real teeth unlike Gawdy and Jordan who were hacks.

Now do they have every right to investigate Trump and his criminal crew. Yes. You better believe that. Should they, I say no. As I expressed previously, one party has to be serious about governance, and it ain’t the republicans. If democrats start using their power in a way republicans did, this country is doomed.

However, Democrats should absolutely investigate and legislate any weakness Mueller may have found in our national security related to elections and other matter he may have uncovered.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation could turn a profit for the government, thanks to Paul Manafort's asset forfeiture
  • Special counsel Robert Mueller secured a win last Friday, with President Donald Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, pleading guilty to conspiracy charges and agreeing to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
  • Mueller may have also paid for his own investigation.
  • That's because, as part of his plea deal with the special counsel, Manafort agreed to forfeit real estate and cash estimated to be worth between $42 million and $46 million.

So Mueller prosecuted Manafort simply as a method to pay for his expensive investigation that found no collusion with Russia from the Trump campaign. Good to know.

Mueller prosecuted Manafort because he is a criminal who colluded with Russia as well as committing numerous other crimes against The US.
