MUCH WORSE than The Great Depression

Quote from ByLoSellHi:

Some believe this was a motivating factor in Iraq.

Iran has the 2nd largest reserves of oil and natural gas in the world.

I know that's what we were told. I doubt it was Bush's REAL reason.

And how has the war in Iraq worked out for us? We've spent $Trillions, lost thousands of lives, and what do we have to show for it. PERHAPS a "call" on Iraqi oil? $Trillions paid for a "call" option to buy at market price?

Bush showed criminal irresponsibility!

War for the sake of war (or financial reasons) is not only morally reprehensible, it's stupid.... which, of course, makes it a viable political consideration.

Just two years into the downturn and we are seeing declines NEVER seen at the worst of The Great Depression such as... land values down over 80% in many areas.

Where are land values down over 80%?

Detroit? A nuclear waste dump? LOL.

Please show me one of the many areas where land value is down "over 80%" so I can buy some. Thank you.

War for the sake of war? To accomplish what?

Historically a country "goes to war" against another in an effort to claim their resources and land.. and enslave their people in one way or another. And then there's the "religion" thingy.

How could any of this apply to the USA? We going to war against Saudi Arabia so we can claim their oil fields?

There's a financial cost to war.. and we're already broke. In order to profit and improve our situation, we'd have to win more financial resources for winning the war than it cost us to wage it. How could that work for the USA at this time?
I never said it made any sense.
:D

Of course it was.

to guard USA strategic interests.

public never would have bought it........so they had to lie.

I am no fan of Bush but history will judge if this was a necessary move or Waterloo.

I may be totally out to lunch on this, but that is my take.

Agree. It was mostly about oil and strategic positioning within the region. Nothing wrong with that, IMO. I also don't think we have much problem with taking out as many terrorist sympathizers as we can, either as well as disrupting their ability to obtain stuff that could hurt a lot of people.

The sky is falling, people! Therefore, freeze up in fear. Stop thinking and planning, and go into a disorderly, reactive state of mind.

America went to war in Iraq to stop them from trading oil in Euros. It was a BIG message to the middle east and the world how war they would go to maintain their reserve currency status.

I'm intreagued to know how it will play out this time now that it is China and Russia that are calling for a change of reserve currency.......

With all this stuff going on I find it typical how people instantly blame the Chinese or Russians as if it is somehow 'their' fault that their own currency lost it's value because of their incompetency.

The Chinese and Russians are actually doing reasonably well in this recession because they don't pull crappy ponzi schemes like we've had in the UK and America.
