Quote from AAAintheBeltway:
These are typical liberal tactics that any casual listener to talk radio is familiar with. Rush calls them "seminar callers", meaning they were instructed how to get on the air and what to say. I thought he was paranoid, then I see this.
I am a big fan of the new media, but it is very vulnerable to this sort of deception. I was reading car reviews on Edmunds the other day. A particular SUV had half a dozen intensely negative comments from supposed owners. It swayed me a lot, then I got to thinking, how do I know another auto compnay didn't post those comments. When I read all the IB bashing on this site, I have a similar reaction. Everyone loves IB for years, then a few aggressive competitors pop up, and suddenly every other thread here is bashing IB. Makes you wonder.
Very interesting.
Are people like you and Maverick74 just plain old voices venting but never had a platform until the advent of the internet, or are you "seeds" of a sort planted by a political organization? Or a strange hybrid of both: do you reflect a wave in American political culture that has conservatives shouting in the various media, glorifying thier leader, demonizing the Democrats, and employing scare tactics and sophistry to expand their ranks? And now the ants like you and Maverick74 can do this on the new medium. Multiply this by a million ants and you have a new grass roots colony that has tentacles all over.
Moveon.org has caught on and now you guys are scared. You want to own the platform and drown out the opposition, even if it means chucking the 1st amendment, hence Maverick74's call to shut down Moveon.org. Granted, AAA, you probably don't agree with Maverick74 here. But how many do?
Take the terrorism scare, the new conservative organizations, the Patriot Act, and a shitpot of Maverick74s and you have a cauldron cooking a new McCarthysim.
PS. Maverick74's thread today on the Dean Tax plan perfectly exemplifys my point. A onesided biased political analysis rife with complaints, but not one practical suggestion for fiscal policy. The conservative platform seems be: "Vote against everybody (but me)"
