A 10% hit via a real newbie mistake, I abandoned my usually cautious strategy and decided to gamble with my winnings on a risky bet against the XLE two weeks ago.

Lesson learned: there's nothing wrong with going for it but back out when it starts to move seriously against you.

Luckily I'm in the process of getting it all back this week.

I had an OEX iron condor that was way far gone so i decided to let it expire at max loss. I was assigned on 8 contracts and instead of losing 5k i was down about 13k. My broker margin called me (i missed the phone call) and for some reason he didn't close me out and the market later tanked. I made back all loss and about 8k profit. it was feb expiration day. TOS really saved my ass that day. It would have been my max loss on a single trade.

I since have been able to avoid the meddlesome TOS guys and lose it on my own.
