Morning Conference Call?

I guess what @newwurldmn is also trying to say is that this isn't a profession where you drag yourself to your desk. On most days I'm prepared early and a little excited for the day to start, of course my hours are completely different as well.
Can't imagine trading while being demotivated, it can't end well.
Most surprising is how quickly some jumped on this idea and stomped it down. It doesn't hurt to keep an open mind. Maybe on that call you hear something that triggers a move to a new opportunity.

Why not give it a try? You have nothing to lose. I could understand if you tried it, and decided that it wasn't for you, but why shut it down when you haven't given it a chance? It might be exactly what you need.

With this attitude, you're probably to missing out on profitable investment opportunities. Maybe on the first call I will be giving 1oz gold coins out for free.

Perhaps you're right. Yet you're not considering the downside. 30 minutes before RTH open is a busy time for many (or most) traders and diluting attention at a time like that is not recommended.
Professional traders have their own methodology and typically aren't opportunistic enough to trade someone's ideas that are quite far from their own.
I've traded in a prop shop/trading room and chat rooms, while entertaining and sometimes fun, they're more of a distraction for me.

Theres never any harm in chatting to fellow traders in general. its good to trade outside a hole.
you never know... you might learn something about trades that are on and ideas people are thinking about, instead of looking at generic news letters. etc.

lets face it - we dont know it all. and you may just learn something ...

i do think 30 min before the open is a little tight, cause thats when you wanna start going over your watch list and checking last minute info out on tickers. should really be earlier... with a bit of wind down time.

you could setup a conf call on www.speek.com - its a free conference call line.. kinda like Skype but for conf calls!

All of you could have saved yourself the 30 seconds it took to pull down your pants and shit all over his idea and just ignore it. he wants to know if people want to do a huddle pre-market to exchange ideas since CHAT is no longer working.

If it is not your thing then fine.
In all fairness, kmiklas asked and people responded, not all of them favorably and some more colorfully than others. While I give kmiklas credit for suggesting the idea and some may indeed find it useful, not everyone has to agree and not only those who agree are entitled to respond. In the end, kmiklas will know who's interested and we'll all have an idea of how the suggestion was received. Nothing wrong with that. There's value in dissenting opinions as well.

The OP did not ask opinions whether this was a good idea or should all traders being doing this, he asked if anyone would be interested in doing it with him. Lot of posts explaining ad nausea why traders would not like to do that or why it is a bad idea etc... If you are not interested, then no need to provide a long-winded dissenting opinion, this is not the Supreme Court. Just let it be. The question was to anyone interested, so if you are not interested leave out your opinion.

That is why this has gone to crap for newbies coming in and asking questions. Rather than post when it is applicable, everyone has to show off their superiority and explain why the post is dumb and useless.

Go back and read the original post again. No on asked you to agree with everything but he did not ask for your opinion, he asked who was interested and instead of someone replying about their interest, we have a bunch of people who just want to shit on the idea. It is not for you, no one is asking you to do it.

jeez, people...you are all acting more and more like Surf who has to shit on posts even when they have are not addressing something to him.

Dear Peeps,

Any interest in attending a morning conference call?

Maybe we could try it for a day and see how it goes? Anyone interested just respond here.

Sincerely,
Keith

In case some of you forget, this was the main point of the OP. Anyone interested just respond here. But thank you to all the people who jumped in with why this idea is stupid or why traders would never do that. Now why would anyone who is really interested even bother responding. This thread had a directed audience but all the pundits have to jump in...

@Magna this is what many of us who dropped off complain about all the time with Surf but plenty of bench players to step up and fill in the void.

I didn't realize you were the opinion police. But who would police your opinions?

I am not trying to come off like that, but he asked if anyone is interested and got a ton of responses saying how bad the idea is. This place treats a lot of questions like that here from newbies.

I have not expressed an opinion on whether a morning conference call is a good idea or not because it is not for me, no opinion needed. But if someone asks, why would everyone but those who are interested jump in?

To be clear I am not saying don't have an opinion, just the question was anyone interested? I can understand why the idea sucks for you but still a valid idea for someone, so no need to dump on it.

Dear Peeps,

Any interest in attending a morning conference call? I was thinking that it might be good to have a 9am ET call in the morning.

- We get together, chat for a few minutes, get ready for market open, etc.
- It would also help to hold us all accountable to getting to our terminals on time. 1/2 from the open.. get to your desk!
- It's a good start to the work day; basically a daily scrum (if I can make an analogy to Agile without getting pelted with rotten tomatoes).
- We can share ideas, chat about what's moving the market, etc.
- It's a professional start to the trading day.

Maybe we could try it for a day and see how it goes? Anyone interested just respond here.

Sincerely,
Keith
You should use the Discord app for voice server. It's supposed to be used for Gamers but we use it at the office all the time with our US desk.

We keep it open 24/7 and have a "push to talk" microphone where we discuss the market throughout the day. The result is not really an all time conversation but we have a "formal" meet-up at 7am and then throughout the day you hear small sentences here and there.

The quality of the sound is really good and you can easily make different voice rooms / chat rooms.
