More Winning: AT&T to Lay Off Up to 1400 Employees Just Before Christmas

I heard that Obama is going to hook them up with jobs at Solyndra. Now THAT was a half billion dollars well spent.

Ah yes, the great Solyndra 'scam' for which the great Republican investigative committees could't find evidence for.

But you did your job, your leader personally enriches himself just like he has done every single time (see Trump University) and your defense is WHATABOUTISM which isn't even true. I am surprised that you didn't mention Clinton Foundation though.

Self conscious much? I didn't mention any scam or wrongdoing by Obama and you knee still jerks.

It was the wrong thinking of Obama policy that I was referring to. We guaranteed a 550M loan ( in essence gave them OUR money) and they still shut and let go 1,100 people. Somehow you think AT&T getting to keep more of THEIR money and laying people off is worse.

Nice line of thinking.

Of course you didn't mention anything specific, the way right wing media works is to INSINUATE wrongdoing, provide no evidence but repeat the insinuation ad infinitum to make it a narrative - then only the keywords are necessary. Examples of these are Solyndra, Benghazi, Clinton Foundation, Birth Certificate etc. Like you mentioned Rezko in another thread without providing any details, just make it sound bad is the objective. This is how you guys operate.

As for the Obama policy, 98% of the DOE programs were a success and Obama's DOE policy actually made money for taxpayers, why didn't you mention that?

"Overall, the agency has loaned $34.2 billion to a variety of businesses, under a program designed to speed up development of clean-energy technology. Companies have defaulted on $780 million of that — a loss rate of 2.28 percent. The agency also has collected $810 million in interest payments, putting the program $30 million in the black."

If Obama ran a venture capital firm with a 98% hit rate, he would be worshiped by Cons.

Well since I'm in Chicago and know the story pretty well, I assumed others might as well.

What I see from left leaning posters, here and elsewhere, is this great desire for links and support. When they are provided, the sources are dismissed and poo pooed while the argument then diverts down a rabbit hole of sources.

I'm not interested in that game, thanks.

Ok, tell me the story, what did Rezko give to Obama and what did he get in return. Don't even provide sources, I just want to know the basis of your allegation.

Also, when we ask for sources, we tend to judge their quality as well, there is a huge problem of fake news sources on the right (see gatewaypundit and infowars for example) which is why we insist on something more reliable.

Let's just say that I may be a little wiser than some in the ways of the street. Thus none of this passes the smell test.

In June 2007, the Sun-Times published a story about letters Obama had written in 1997 to city and state officials in support of a low-income senior citizen development project headed by Rezko and Davis. The project received more than $14 million in taxpayer funds, including $885,000 in development fees for Rezko and Davis. Of Obama's letters in support of the Cottage View Terrace apartments development, Obama spokesman Bill Burton said, "This wasn't done as a favor for anyone; it was done in the interests of the people in the community who have benefited from the project. I don't know that anyone specifically asked him to write this letter nine years ago. There was a consensus in the community about the positive impact the project would make and Obama supported it because it was going to help people in his district." Rezko's attorney responded that "Mr. Rezko never spoke with, nor sought a letter from, Senator Obama in connection with that project.

In 2005 Obama purchased a new home in the Kenwood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (which was $300,000 below the asking price but represented the highest offer on the property) on the same day that Rezko's wife, Rita Rezko, purchased the adjoining empty lot from the same sellers for the full asking price.[35] Obama acknowledged bringing his interest in the property to Rezko's attention,[36] but denied any coordination of offers. According to Obama, while the properties had originally been a single property, the previous owners decided to sell the land as two separate lots, but made it a condition of the sales that they be closed on the same date. Obama also stated that the properties had been on the market for months, that his offer was the better of two bids, and that Ms. Rezko's bid was matched by another offer, also of $625,000, so that she could not have purchased the property for less.[37]

After it had been reported in 2006 that Rezko was under federal investigation for influence-peddling, Obama purchased a 10-foot-wide strip of Ms. Rezko's property for $104,500, $60,000 above the assessed value.[7][35] According to Chicago Sun-Times columnist, Mark Brown, "Rezko definitely did Obama a favor by selling him the 10-foot strip of land, making his own parcel less attractive for development."[38] Obama acknowledges that the exchange may have created the appearance of impropriety and stated "I consider this a mistake on my part and I regret it.

So the deal was that Obama bought a house in 2005 for a 100 grand discount and in 1997, he wrote LETTERS in favor of a project. No power to approve any deals, just letters and that's the 'deal'. So this deal took eight years to develop for a 100 grand payoff for just some letters. Agreed, this doesn't pass the smell test of a shady deal.
