More than 8% of German industry leaving Germany

More than 8% of the German industry is leaving Germany b/c of the current energy shortages (gas & electricity etc.) and the high energy prices. Most of them are going to China.
And another 16+% are going to reduce (or even stop) their production b/c of material and energy shortages.
This development of course will affect the German economy as a whole as well the DAX index etc.
The German 'Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK)' says "These are alarming figures".

FAKE fcking news, Bro. There is now a massive surplus of natgas and the Poles are going to increase the exports of crude.

Everyone has a free choice in life. Yet none of that exodus of a small part of the continent had any significant impact on any potential brain drain...most who had the privilege to live on both the European and North American continent would prefer Europe and the few that opt for NA probably choose the region for anything else than work-life balance, job safety, social security, medical treatment quality, education, consumer protection, and overall happiness. Nature lovers and get rich quick aspirants would perhaps chose NA over Europe. And of course war mongers find in the US the perfect partner in crime. In Europe citizens and their elected officials tell corporations and the elites how to behave and by which rulebook to abide. In the US corporations make up the rules and assure that their lackeys are elected to write the laws that offer most benefit to the few on top. Huge difference. But I digress, please go on...

Surely, you mean immigrate to the US and Canada.

This is totally delusional. I would highly recommend any book by Bill Gates' favorite energy expert Vaclav Smil, particularly "How the World Really Works" that is specifically aimed at countering the utter nonsense that we are going to be independent of fossil fuels any time soon. You are just spreading misinformation saying things like this and basically puppeting political propaganda that has nothing to do with reality.

]But it's not hard to imagine that Germany might become completely fossil independent in a decade or so. Imagine that: a nation of 86 million people and one of the most technologically advanced nations in the world completely independent of any fossil fuels. I won't hold my breath for this century for the US or Canada at all.

And in Russia last month a few hundred thousand Russians left the country. Not a sign that Russia is the land of their dreams.
All children of the Russian elite and the important politicians are living in Europe. Why, if Russia is the land to be?
Apparently a lot of Russians like the decadent Western world very much.

To what degree (%) maximally can fossil fuels be replaced by alternatives?
Can this be more than 50%?

I mean fossil fuels have their advantage too. For example oil for lubricating and oiling the machines cannot be replaced by any alternative, so oil for this case will always be needed...

I was quoting something @earth_imperator typed, not @M.W.

Ah. Well, I can't see his nonsense, so I went with a best guess in the "if the shoe fits" category and named the most proximate "Cinderella". One without a prince - even an ugly one - to occupy her, alas.

C'est la vie, c'est la guerre
[glancing in M.W.'s direction]... C'EST LA POMME DE TERRE!
