More Evidence Great Depression II Is Here: 30mm Unemployed in U.S. (19% of workforce)

Quote from Ivanovich:

You don't think Americans have a high standard of living when compared to the rest of the world??

depends upon which part of US compared to which part of the world you have in mind.

Michigan is a dump and clearly skews the thinking of those who live there.

I'm in NYC, retardo. Come out of your momma's basement and come for a visit.

It's not the worst but far from the best and dropping fast, very fast. When the shit really hits the fan, it will be too late to realize the reality.

Step out of your bubble sometime, the real USA is nothing like the corny yuppie world you live in. Very funny to hear your comments on Baltimore, it's amazing how you can live there and be completely clueless about what most of the city is like.

Settle down Anaconda. Computer building business must be hurting to warrant so much hostility and name calling.

Has anyone considered the fact that millions of jobs will automatically be created when baby boomers retire/die? I have not heard much discussion on this topic. Someone earlier mentioned that the USA will never be able to recover from the job losses of the recent year or so. But won't millions of jobs be created as baby boomers retire/die? Comments?

Seriously, you need to lay off the tinfoil hat.

Have you ever been to the US? It's a pretty damn good place to live in -- minus the taxes and crime. The cost of living is low, the standard of living is very high. The availability of high quality products and services is phenomenal and unmatched. If the US had an expat tax regime like the UK or Switzerland I'd have moved to the US a long time ago.

I wouldnt know how mentioning the decaying state of US infrastructure falls under the category of tinfoil hat nore would the mentioning of a US underperformance in area's such as education, health care or car making (:p ) as those shortcomings are well acknowledged by most people most of the time.

I have been to the States several times by the way yet most of the times I visited NY which isnt considered as part of the US I believe by most people most of the time.

Has been a while though cause I didnt particullary liked the frisking of my inner rectum that much last time but hey perhaps next time when I ditch the 3 ft beard they'd be nicer?

Anyway, it's very hard to agree on a 'best place to live' when simple changes in your life such as changing jobs or having a child influences your needs substantialy let alone financial status, state of health or a variety on other criteria which all in their own can change perception of your current or future place of residence overnight.

I don't consider the US to be a third world nation, just to make that clear, although I do consider the country to find itself on a slippery slope since some time.

Is that because the country has set it's own standards to high or perhaps because I have been brainwashed by the dollar bears I don't know I will think about it.:)

As far as employment being a "lagging" indicator, that's a common term that, frankly, is a huge misnomer to apply to all situations equally.
Yes quite right.
US is experiencing a recovery in the derivatives economy, to which the world is invited.
The real US economy upon which the derivative economy was created is now out of step....permanently ... as the global market continues to outperform the US economy.
It is up to US to carve out a place in the new world

I am sure that it will

Listen welfare boy, go eat some Ramen Noodles and masturbate to Victoria Secret catalogs. I think they are tired of your stench at the public library.
I don't build computers for a living, I do so as a hobby or a favor for a friend/relative. Obviously you have no clue of what having a job or career is, hence you confuse it with a HOBBY.

Retire from what, you idiot, from severance packages & unemployment benefits?

I have yet to see you make one single post that constitutes a logical argument to any point you make. Instead, out come the name calling and insults. Welfare? You know nothing about me. I will now let you continue to embarrass yourself with flames.

Ivanovich voted with his feet. Unless you are not in US, I failed to see why I won't believe Ivanovich.

If you never live outside of US before, you simply don't know how good you had it.

Unless I see low income US citizen going outside of US for work, US has one of the best living standard.

Low income US citizens will not gain access to many countries in the world offering a comparable/better standard of living.
