IMO a pretty nice setup is a 27" iMac retina (5120x2880 resolution). Awesome screen and a simple vmware fusion install has you running windows 7.x, 8.x, whatever without issues or significant slowdown. CPU specs are beyond what anyone needs for trading (which isn't really *that* resource intensive in the grand scheme of things). On my macbook pro retina I regularly switch back and forth from normal mac stuff (safari, mail, etc) to windows (sierra chart and tws) via ctrl-right/left, fairly seamless and clean.

But this is only true if you intend to use OSX apps as Apple gear is ridiculously overpriced for what it is and like I mentioned before, Retina is just Apple's brand of IPS screens - nothing more, nothing less.
