Family members checked the Social Security number using a government service, Lang said, but did not use E-verify.gov, which allows employers to check if the information provided by a prospective employee matches Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security records.
Rivera went by a different name at Yarrabee, Lang said. He did not provide the other name.
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services spokesman Michael Bars told USA TODAY on Wednesday: "A search of records by USCIS revealed Rivera did not make any DACA requests, nor were any grants given. We have found no record in our systems indicating he has any lawful immigration status."

He's guilty of murder by his own admission and the evidence found. The only question is his mental competence, which he has every right to argue in court. If there is evidence of a mental issue, past history of treatment and/or verifiable incidents of being mentally unstable, then he has a case to argue that defense and I have no problem with that. Comparing this case to politicians and celebrities being tried by the twitter mob isn't even worth debating. Apples and oranges.

Richards further says that Lang has been able to confirm Rivera’s legal status.
We Are Iowa published a statement from the Langs saying their family farm follows employment laws, and verifies the legal status of all employees. The family expressed sympathy for the Tibbetts family, and regret that one of their employees could be involved in such a crime.

Sounds like the Lang family is trying to cover their a$$. If you need a "gag" order then it is obvious something is shady. What is shady here is that the Lang family never followed employment laws and hired Mollie Tibbett's killer knowing he was in the U.S. illegally. ICE should raid the Lang farm and round up all their other illegal immigrant employees as further proof.
