I have never seen a family farm business with a e-verify subscription or one that used third-party e-verify services.

According to Des Moines Register, attorney Allen Richards has filed documents calling for a gag order, saying that the president of the United States and other politicians are falsely calling the accused man an illegal immigrant, poisoning any potential jury pool. Referring to Trump as “sad and sorry,” Richards identified Rivera’s long-time employer as Eric Lang, the brother of Iowa GOP politician Craig Lang. Richards further says that Lang has been able to confirm Rivera’s legal status.

We Are Iowa published a statement from the Langs saying their family farm follows employment laws, and verifies the legal status of all employees. The family expressed sympathy for the Tibbetts family, and regret that one of their employees could be involved in such a crime.

FWIW; looks like the defense counsel may have relied on the employer info to claim "not illegal". Immigration says they don't have him as having papers, but they've been lying a shit ton the last two years.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) weighed in on Mollie Tibbetts, an Iowa girl murdered by an illegal immigrant, in an interview Wednesday. Warren gave her sympathies to the family but quickly changed the subject to the broader immigration reform. The Senator said she was "so sorry" for the family, but they "need" to "focus" on where the "real problems are" in the immigration system, such as the child separation policy at the border

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo claimed on Wednesday evening that it is “offensive” for President Donald Trump to mention that Mollie Tibbetts has been “permanently separated” from her family after an illegal alien murdered her.
Referring to Trump’s White House video about Tibbetts, Cuomo wondered whether “these sympathizers would be as full throated about these tragedies if the killers were white citizens, if the victims were not young white women.”


In the White House video, Trump says: “Mollie Tibbetts, an incredible young woman, is now permanently separated from her family. A person came in from Mexico, illegally, and killed her. We need the wall. We need our immigration laws changed. We need our border laws changed. We need Republicans to do it because Democrats aren’t going to do it. This is one instance of many. We have tremendous crime coming trying to come through the borders. We have the worst laws anywhere in the world. Nobody has laws like the United States. They are strictly pathetic. We need new immigration laws. We need new border laws. The Democrats will never give them… So, to the family of Mollie Tibbetts–all I can say is God bless you, God bless you.”

After playing a clip of Trump’s video, Cuomo replied: “Permanently separated. Obvious as it is offensive.”

“So, he cares about Mollie Tibbetts more than people who don’t believe in separating kids from parents? Or treating undocumented immigrants like dogs? Please,” Cuomo continued. “What that tells you, that even in this moment, talking about Mollie Tibbetts, he still has to play to political advantage and prove that he still doesn’t want to own what he did to those kids and many of them are still waiting to get back with their parents. We have not forgotten.”

Cuomo argued that Trump “still doesn’t think it is wrong” to separate illegal immigrant children from their families “and he thinks grandstanding about Tibbetts gives him high ground.”

“Well, it does not. Nor do the people covering this like some kind of gotcha have high ground,” Cuomo claimed before blasting those who were putting a “glaring” spotlight on families who have had loved ones murdered by illegal aliens.

The very few studies I have seen have concluded that the violent crime rate among illegal aliens in the U.S, is much lower than among citizens. I am too lazy right now to search for this data, so I can't back up my wild claim, but perhaps you will be so inclined to look for it. In those rare instances in our country of approximately 300 million souls of an illegal being accused of a violent crime, we can count on the event being immediately seized on by those who what to vilify aliens, legal and illegal, but illegal is best for their purposes. Rest assured that the Demagogue Donald Trump is going to be tweeting about these rare crimes as if they were an everyday occurrence. His intention is obviously to make aliens into scapegoats --someone to blame for the lack of good paying jobs. His claims have weak statistical support.

There were 785 total homicide convictions in Texas in 2015. Of those, native-born Americans were convicted of 709 homicides, illegal immigrants were convicted of 46 homicides, and legal immigrants were convicted of 30 homicides.
