You're absolutely correct. Anyone who thinks this government is serious about border security and the illegal immigration issue as a whole is delusional. It is nothing more than never ending campaign slogan for both sides of the isle, and if some people need to be sacrificed to keep that ball rolling, then that's just what will happen. Lets just not pretend that anyone in congress cares about this latest victim, or parents separated from their kids at the border, or any other victim of the fiasco we call our immigration system.

It's not just the government, it's all the people who pay their EnglishIsNotMyFirstLanguage gardeners and housekeepers and nannies and elder care people as well. A lot of guilt to be passed around. Some of us need bigger mirrors because the ones we are choosing to look at ourselves in isn't giving us a true, life-sized image.
How many lower class citizens would go hungry if we had to pay Americans enough to go do the shit work of picking our crops, or at least be starved of the nutrition of fruits and veggies? Really sad what happened to the girl obviously, but there is some good that comes out of near slave labor.

Lang said Rivera provided a state-issued government ID and Social Security number when applying for employment four years ago.
Family members checked the Social Security number using a government service, Lang said, but did not use E-verify.gov, which allows employers to check if the information provided by a prospective employee matches Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security records.
