au contraire...Doug HAS decided and he WILL have Patty do a coaching program for everybody who expressed interest in the offer.

Think about it...Doug hit a GOLDMINE with ET....if everyone that expressed an interest is actually converted into a potential client (i.e., sales lead) by offering them a free session...it's resaonable to expect that a small percentage of those leads that actually have an in-person talk with Patti will also be converted into "money in the bank" by encouraging them to become a paying client.

Doug has given us a lot to be skeptical about for sure, beginning with the OP. But I have yet to see any solid evidence of scam or bs. I think skepticism is a good thing, especially for a trader. But I am amazed at how people seem to accept an idea (e.g. that Doug is the MLM guru from Texas) on so little real evidence.

But what mystifies me the most about the overall tone of this thread and its predecessor is the mob mentality in piling on. It is very simple. All of us, almost without exception at some point of time have been burnt by a MLM scheme. Of course, after that anything that resembles an "AMWAY" type of offering creates a strong, often unjustified reaction as we subconsciously are trying to "get even" with people who tricked us into buying that "initial salesman kit" or a teaching video on how to make millions trading commodities etc. It's a strong resemblance with these kind offerings makes us mad. It could, of course, be that the offer is legit and all of our ranting if for nothing, but chances are that something is not right and our reaction is well justified, I think.

The answer is simple: most of us have seen people getting burned on scams. It's not pretty! A lot of serious issues have been raised and yet Doug did not address any of them. He just keeps writing his little stories to hook more people in and that infuriates everyone even more. The question you should ask yourself is why is he still around when he's being treated so "badly"? One would think that in a time of credit squeeze and deepening recession people would be all over his sweet offer and he would be gone in no time. Yet he's still with us - desperately trying to convince everyone that he's legit.
 
I like tony robbins as a motivational, entertaining speaker. he is a blast to watch live, and some of his tactics I have used with good results. however, I agree with the previous poster---- his money management guides are really poor (:p )--some buffett mixed with other basic material---- I highly doubt he is one of the top money manager's in the world personal trading coach. I know some of these guys personally, and have interviewed many other of the top managers for a series of articles I did back in 2003,2005--- while some may have consulted with tony for personal reasons, or whatever-- I can't say for sure--- I can guarantee you that NOT ONE would consult with the guy for TRADING ADVICE or MARKET EDGE--- outside of marketing :D :D

This supposed coach who is a remote viewing psychic of some sort is 2nd generation Robbins with some pseudo metaphysical crap thrown in------ make your own decision.... can someone with this background help you in the trading battle--or just make you feel good??

These coaches need to understand that the market is unlike any other undertaking in life. It's simply not the same as other businesses/personal issues--- this "coaching" angle here just doesn't make much sense without trading edge which the coach simply isnt teaching---unless its via remote viewing LOL !

I can access the Barclay CTA database & get some bona fide money managers...why trawl on ET & mess around with the peanut gallery?

Doug's either fishing for sweet young man to take to bed, or he's SELLING something disguised as an offer of something else.

This thread has become popular because many of us can FEEL something amiss, even if we don't know exactly what it is.

I think I see your point, though I seriously doubt that your aversion to MLM schemes is any greater than mine. I also don't have a lot of interest in coaching, though I did find the Robbins fire walk most entertaining. I still don't understand the level of hostility here, and perhaps more so in other ET threads.

Take for example the case of Jack Hersey. When I first read one or two of his posts, I thought they might be significant. After reading a few more, I gradually realized (I'm a slow learner) that I could not make any sense of what he was talking about. At that point, I simply quit reading his posts. But I am simply amazed at the amount of time and effort people have put into hounding him from the site. It all strikes me as being quite silly. If a novice trader becomes a Jack Hersey devotee, he will learn soon enough how well that works. He will probably learn it better on his own than if I tell him, though I will give my opinion if asked.

I like very much your leveled, cool-headed approach. It is a sure mark of a good trader. Your words are reasonable and mature. Good for you. Would you mind to keep us posted in your progress with this offer? I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks for the kind words. I am not sure the hook is firmly enough set, but I will report back if I learn anything.

I initially responded via PM at about the 50-respondent point, though I wasn't completely sure why. I don't think I will ever get into money management, but I thought I wanted to at one time. After wandering in the wilderness for a long time, I have found something that was paying a modest but steady return. Lately, that return has disappeared, and I am getting restless. I believe it will come back, and for now I have time on my hands. In the mean time, I have started thinking about some things f9 wrote here and on other threads. Doug's project is on the backmost burner. There are indeed tantalizing clues sprinkled about, and that keeps me coming back to ET.
