Exactly...the founding documents did not address such deviations from the moral norm at the time...so, to state the it did would be incorrect.

This argument (men marrying men..women marrying women) is an evolving subject (from a historical perspective), and is an assault on the moral norm of the fabric of our civilization, and in my opinion, is a frontal assault on the backbone of that moral norm, Judeao-Christian dogma.

If this was just about gaining some commercial-civil legal rights, this could easily be done through contracts or even corporate structures.....it is the desire to have the term "marriage" applied to their arrangements, because of the religious connotation of the term.

When it comes to sex, we have laws on the books about public obscenity, and indecent exposure. This has nothing at all to do with the right of gays or straights to marry and have sex any way they like in the privacy of their own home...

If both parties are consenting adults, I don't see a problem.

(If people take the Bible literally, then from Adam and Eve the direct descendants of Adam and Eve were incestuous to produce further human beings. Who did Adam and Eve's children procreate with but either their brother or sister, or with their mom and dad?)

I have addressed the question of tax laws previously were a man to marry his adult daughter to avoid the estate tax, and the scientific reasons that would have to do with the danger to offspring of inbreeding are valid concerns, so excluding those issues, tell me what is wrong with informed and consenting adults marrying?

If you look to the history of this country, like or not, we have seen the taboos change over time. It used to be taboo to do certain things which are now so routine that people don't even pay attention...

There was a time in America when it was the norm to view black people as less than human, as animals.

Fortunately, norms do evolve and change.

Gay rights are at a similar place to where blacks were in past generations where they did not enjoy the same right and freedoms of the the white majority...

Marriage only has a religious connotation to certain religions, from the perspective of law there is no mention of religion being a factor. Atheists can marry, convicted felons can marry, a man on death row for the most heinous crime can marry, communists can marry, etc. but a good man and another good man, who subscribe to the same values of the majority of Americans but gay sex can't marry? It is ridiculous...

It is time the religious people in America practice their own religion and allow other people to practice their own beliefs...

Look, if gay marriage were legalized nationwide, would you be tempted to then marry someone of the same gender as you simply because it was legalized?

Don't worry, gay marriage is not going to damage straight marriage. The straights have screwed up marriage and family structure quite nicely on their own, and until they can fix their own problems, they should keep their nose out of the marriage of gays or others...
