I'm compelled to ask the obvious question. What the hell is a f'n homo doing as a judge in a female beauty contest? No more homo judges. Problem solved!

The California vote was not a landslide, and not enough to generate more than a simple majority.
One of the principles of most of the state and federal constitution is that changing the constitution requires much more than a simple majority.
The question becomes of of constitutionality which is why the the homophobes on the right talk about a Constitutional Amendment on a federal level to ban gay marriage nationwide.
To get that done, a simple majority would not be enough. Just ask those who tried to get the ERA passed though, and just couldn't get enough states to make it happen.
If you can show in the Constitution where gay marriage is banned, or where churches should define marriage (what about a gay church---).
So the right of gay marriage is implied because it is Constitutionally supported freedom of privacy.

If it is his son or daughter, and then becomes his spouse, the tax laws are circumvented, because they remain his son or daughter.

If not, then there could be no marriage, as it take informed consent on both parties to enforce a contract, and marriage is a contract.
The issue comes down to where that contract is with the state, or with God, or combined.
Take religion out of it, then it just becomes a contract, and then you have no reason to prevent any person or persons from getting married as long as all parties are capable of informed consent.
One guy has a hundred wives, so what? Some woman has hundred husbands? So what?

I think it's cool that she stood up for what she believed in and did it again on the Today show the next day (even if what she believes in is a load of Christian informed bullshit brainwashing). However, I have to point out that the statement above is pretty much out there. Homo men are all about knowing what a good looking woman looks like, because that's what they're trying to be!! Half of them are fashion designers, etc.
