Military coup could oust Obama

Quote from Trader7793:

The utter lunacy of even the possibilty of a coup is the big joke here. The United States was created with so many safeguards against such a thing...the president being Commander In Chief of the military, seperate military services, federalist system and the 2nd amendment. Even the civil war was not a result of a coup, but succesion of several states. Once military officers disobeyed the Commander In Chief, why would their subordinates follow them? The moment they made an unpolular decision, they would be subject to the same thing. A coup against a lawfully elected president, would be a complete and utter rejection of everything that the US was founded on an followed for over 200 years. No leader after that sort of action would have legitimacy again, and this country is too well armed to be led by anyone if the whole electoral system is thrown away. The United States would be finished and military officers know this and none would be stupid enough to risk this just to remove a president who has not trampled any constitutional rights, or done much of anything else except give speeches.

For those who make the argument of a possibility of a coup, common sense has long gone away. They are no longer simply and legitimately opposed to ideas that run contrary to what they believe, they now are open advocates of insanity. They no longer even believe in arguments and ideas that can get candidates they support elected and OBama and the democrats thrown out of office. Now their faith is shifting to outlandish fairy tale scenarios. Absolutely incredible.

this would require that Obama had some sort of influence ....

He Has None.

When health care fails, when cap-and-trade fails, when the second stimulus fails, when whatever decision is made about Afghanistan fails, ... and finally considering SNL has turned on him, only the HuffingtonPost needs to go negative for the cards to fully collapse.

Here's a clue... The country is center-right, and even more so, now that we've had a look at what far-left really means.

A great move for a slow weekend, "Seven Days in May" from the '60s I think.

In the movie Congress and the President have an approval ratings in the range of 10-20% and the military leadership an apprivial rating of 80%.

The military believed the Congress and the President had turned their backs on the constitution and it was their sworn duty to restore the government to its constitutional core values.

If the US suffers another terrorist attach, which would further destroy the markets, with increased unemployment, food shortages, and fuel shortages during a winter (global warming my ass). Do you think the military will support Obama if he quits Iraq (our achievements lost), and then Afganistan?

Do you think Obama or Congress would be able to restore confidence? It probably would not be a military takeover with tanks, aircraft and troop deployments. It would look in the press a headline of "The Vice President" has resigned for health reasons; the President has appointed General YourMostPopularGeneral as Vice President. Within a short time the President resigns. All of the power struggle would be behind closed doors and certainly not reported by the 'bought and paid for press'.

Remember the military have taken an oath to defend the constitution. For the most part, that is the constitution of our founding fathers, not the meaningless document described by the Collectivist left....

I thought the plot of "Seven Days in May" would not be possible. Now, I wish somebody would recast the characters and update the plot; I think it would be a great box office hit.

Have a good weekend!

Do you think Obama or Congress would be able to restore confidence? It would not have to be a terrible military takeover. It would look in the press a headline of "The Vice President" has resigned for health reasons; the President has appointed General YourMostPopularGeneral as Vice President. the military wouldn't waste their time with a lame-duck ... and Obama is just about there.

Now, if the title of this thread was "Venezulaen Military coup could oust Chavez" ... it might lead to an interesting discussion.

Quote from OPTIONAL777:

The continuity of power is not the issue. The fact that we have followed the rules of the game is important.

There were some very left wing radicals who were not happy with the 2000 election who were crying out for some kind of violent revolt as they believed Bush was not elected president, but was put there by a political process that did not genuinely reflect the will of the people.

Of course these left wing extremists were lambasted by the right wing extremists...the same right wing extremists who now are suggesting coups and sedition...

...anyone who thinks in the manner of a coup or sedition, have completely gone unAmerican, as the political system we have allows for change in a relatively short period of time. In 2010 we can have a big change in political party in Congress, and in 2012 Obama could be voted out.

If these insane right wing extremists don't show that they are American enough to play within our system of government, then hang them all...

Such a bunch of pissy poor losers I have never seen as these idiots who want to tear down America...simply because they lost an election.
Exactly. There was so much more reason to talk about revolt in 2000-1 than in 2008-9. The rigged voting machines, the stopped count, the completely unprecedented Supreme Court interference. Fortunately the extreme left stayed cool, even though we got the worse Administration in US history.

For these candy-ass reichtards to talk about a coup against Obama proves one thing: it really is about his race. They simply can't stand the idea of a black man in the Oval Office.

This is what you get for giving us 8 years of Bush/Cheney. Most voters looked at McBush/Palin and gagged and voted for the black guy. Don't you wish you had voted for Kerry now? :D

Afghan soldier shoots dead 2 American troops

KABUL (Reuters) - An Afghan soldier on guard at a joint base with U.S. troops shot dead two American servicemen and wounded two others as they slept, a provincial official said on Saturday.

Shahedullah Shahed, spokesman for the governor of Wardak province west of Kabul, said the shooting took place after a combined team of Afghan and U.S. forces had returned from a joint operation late on Friday.

"The Americans were in the middle of sleep when an Afghan soldier on duty opened fire on them," Shahed said.

"We have no clue as to why he shot them."

A statement from NATO-led forces said two American soldiers died from injuries suffered in a "hostile attack" in eastern Afghanistan on Friday. A press officer for the Western troops said he could give no further details of the incident.

Social unrest ain't gonna be pretty. Let us hope it never gets that bad. But with these idiots in charge, I would not make any predictions.

" Some" of them do not appear to have a high regard for the constitution, based on their public statements. So far, Obama has kept his mouth shut and I hope it stays that way.

by the way, let us not forget Bush did some damage of his own.
