I agree with both of you that muslims have been troublemakers in various parts of the world. I think it has more to do with the education and social upbringing. Most of the muslims in the troubled areas like India or Palestine are poor and receive a good bit of their education from MADrassas usually sponsored by the saudis. These are just breeding grounds for fanaticism.

I think there maybe some kind of middle ground between cowering down and kissing the muslims and trying to bomb them to oblivion. How to reach there is something we will have to strive.

I used to be a supporter of Israel till the Lebanese War this summer. I think the war exposed the weak underbelly of the Israelis and if they don't reinforce that, it will be their undoing.

As an US taxpayer, I don't like my tax dollars going to Israel, as they are a pretty wealthy country. On the other hand, I cringe when I think about my tax dollars going to Egypt where it is probably being spent to feed more anti-US feelings. I just wish we just stop aiding both Israel and these other middle eastern countries.

John Mutter, editor of Shelf Awareness, a newsletter about books, suggested that Regan may set up her own firm "with backing from friends, a few ex-lovers and some hedge funds.

"Then I can imagine her publishing a list that would be familiar, with a mix of the salacious and serious," Mutter said, "although now there might be a probing, critical biography of Rupert Murdoch with accompanying film and TV segments."

Not sure if this was meant for me but I never suggested that 'Jews drive Bentleys'. I was simply making the point that people like bsmeter, losers in the game of life, men who lost because they didn't have the strength of character to capitalize on their opportunites, are like the masses who see a rich man, or an accomplished man, or a man with obvious character, and hate him for his success, either financially, professionally or academically.

That was my only point. None of the (very wealthy) Jews I know (and I know a bunch of them) drive anything nicer than a Lexus or a 911 in a couple of cases. They have kids so they tend to drive SUVs and minivans. They do, however, own nice homes.

excuse me. i don't think that there is any room for
misinterpretation here. you implicitly say that "jews"
are doing better in terms of income.
and, further begging your pardon, your quote on your
rich friends not driving anything better than the most
expensive toyota or a porsche sounds as if was conversing
with paris hilton. we are talking about two completely
different things here, i am afraid. and in my eyes you're
as much prejudicing as the one bashing the jews, you
just glorify them on account of extraordinary success
of a few. same trap.

OK so the penny hasn’t quite dropped in some quarters. Lets put it another way they probably weren’t persecuted for their GENEROSITY.
Great wealth gives the illusion of power but in fact all through history it has created the envy and greed of their not so nice neighbours and been their downfall. Unfair – yes of course but a fact. It wasn’t just the Templars who were murdered for their wealth e.g. the sacking of the great cities of many civilisations like Athens, Carthage, Troy, Rome, etc. even Soloman’s treasure in Jerusalem must have been part of the attraction. Their wealth was an integral part of their disaster. Will the new wall around Jerusalem solve their probems - no chance !
An obvious lesson of history – but one yet to be learned.
The CEO of Goldman Sachs is being paid $53 million for his efforts this year. Does that bring a warm feeling to those struggling to survive ? Will a few crumbs drop off the great man’s table for the poor ? Will he agree tostruggle along on $1 million and donate the rest ? We shall see
