Quote from oldtime:

OH, NOW we are getting to the real CRUX of the problem.

When was the last time a fly on the wall heard a girl say, "I just met a guy." And all her girlfriends ask, "Is he smart?"

:D

That is the truth, the first thing a woman mentions when she meets a guy is what he does.

We often go into things without full knowledge.
ET is a great vehicle for hearing the other side of the story.

+1

You wanna see exotic stuff, go down the basement, all kinds of creatures live there!:D

Quote from d08:

Do you think your wife popping out one or two has any meaning for the universe (except more consumption and pollution)?
That might be important for you on a personal level but on the larger scheme of things, the last thing we need is another consumer on this overpopulated planet.
Somehow you seem to think your happiness has a lot of meaning for the rest of us. As one of the "rest", we don't care.

Very myopic. You never know, the child could be th person who saves the earth....

Quote from Ghost of Cutten:

Also, research suggests that parental guidance has almost zero impact on long-term life outcomes for children. The main impact is genetics, and peer group (i.e. wider society, kids friends etc).

Have your opinion about the merits of being a Dad fine... prior to being a Dad, I could not have cared less about children either...

but...

with regard to the above statement I have a few observations... / objections...

1. weasel words... (just learned about this link.)

A weasel word (also, anonymous authority) may be an informal term[1] for equivocating words and phrases aimed at creating an impression that something specific and meaningful has been said, when in fact only a vague or ambiguous claim, or even a refutation has been communicated.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weasel_word

2. If even a real study... must come from a very biased perspective.

3. Bullshit - in almost every objective and subjective way, I can imagine.
Fucked up parents are the most guaranteed way to a high ratio of fucked up kids...

and parents who care and set boundries seem to experience a good ratio of outcomes.

genetics... sure influence the range... but...
but do not buy into that it takes a village hillary clinton socialist bullshit...

it takes parents who care.... ask teachers.

Quote from jinxu:

My fiance is actually white and she hot, easily a 9 if not 10. Blond thin and d cup tits. But she is a little dumb who think with emotions and that's why I think she'll be a disaster in marriage.

And im pretty okay with pulling white women. Most think I'm cute and I have pretty good game.

Either a troll thread, or we were advising the wrong side...

Referring to your fiancees "tits" and stating she is "dumb" in a public forum is rather immature and inappropriate. The more you type, the clearer it becomes that it is she who should be the one warned. You aren't ready for marriage and heaven forbid you were to propagate, children shouldn't have children.

+1 to ignore list...

btw, is this thread seriously worthy of the economic forum?

Any woman can screw you in so many ways !

Great Post ..

Hopefully you are not getting married to have regular sex and housework done, it would be pathertic ! Not to mention that a whore and a maid twice a week in the long run it will cost you a lot less in terms of money, headaches and time.

if your ever get divorced ? try alimony & child support payments

trading is challenging enough emotionally & financially

add divorce to the mix & you will be screwed for sure

keep life simple & don"t make choices that can harm you if you have any doubts

It can get real ugly for some people , so take your time

It's not myopic at all.
Why assume that the child will do something good by default? What you said is very misleading but can be blamed on human bias. Many serial killers and rapists come from very good families.

'Unlike most serial killers, Donald Harvey did not come from a troubled family. In fact, he was very well-liked by his family and friends and was often a teacher`s pet.

read UNLIKE MOST. Your remark is disingenuous.

And I turned twenty-one in prison doing life without parole.
No-one could steer me right but Mama tried, Mama tried.
Mama tried to raise me better, but her pleading, I denied.
That leaves only me to blame 'cos Mama tried.
