Years ago, Maine was one of- if not the- poorest states in the nation- mostly because of the lack of high income earners- and the rest living at subsistence level. You had a lot of people living off the land and low income but you had to go to the cities to see real poverty.

So Maine had a high povety rate and an extremely high gun ownership rate. Inconvenient for the lefties though, is the fact that it also had the lowest crime rate in the nation. This is because people were low income but high quality, peaceful, and more concerned about helping their neighbor than the next handout.

Fast forward some decades, and the Gulf experiences Hurricane Katrina. Next thing you know, we are watching wave after wave of looters coming out of stores with shopping carts loaded with jeans and TV's. So we then had to hear from Usual Tard types that the root cause of the looting was poverty. Bullshit. The root cause is that America is raising a lower quality person these days. What an affront (to all the decent, law-abiding people in this country, currently and historically who have been outstanding people, law abiding, and helpful to society) to ascribe the violence and low-lifer behavior to just poverty.

The root cause is just exactly what I said, America is raising a lower quality person these days and the dems want to throw more and more money at it to compensate. Actually what they want is votes. Once they get elected they don't care about anyone until the next election when they take minorities down off the shelf again for their use.

It would help of course too if the dems were not 100% committed to providing illegal drugs to every, man, woman and child in American to destroy all communities at the fast possible rate.

As far as America raising lower quality people, I disagree with that too. We are seeing a rise in gun violence but comparatively we are still in lower violent times in America. Whatever metric you choose from education to employment to productivity and yes even crime is generally better off than it was 20, 30 - 50 years ago.

The quality of people and the overall state of the country is high right now. The issue is the social conflict and I’m sorry but right wing politics. Y’all are holding this country back. It’s you and your ilk.

Arguing about “handouts” is silly. The major handouts have already been made and established the status quo. No one is arguing for some great society type of investments either. That’s just your way of deflecting so you don’t have to actually address the true issues.
