Actually, my original comment had to do with the data available, not backfilling. 5 days is certainly an improvement, but useless for backtesting. Assuming one wants to test a strategy, he then has to turn to another charting program. Why have two, which is the reason why I've had no reason to look into QT again.
As to updates, I wasn't using beta. The memory drain had been an ongoing problem.
No need to be so defensive, Jerry. Nobody is saying that QT is crap. The thread has to do with QT vs SC. I tried QT several times over the years and didn't like it. I like SC. What anybody else uses is completely immaterial to me.
db, please don't look into QT again. What anyone uses does not
matter to anyone. Each trader is out for themselves. Nobody has
said Sierra charts are crap. Does Sierra have robust backtesting
like Wealthlab, ect? If so, then that is great. If not, then why
bother? Because then, you DO need a 2nd charting program.
Especially if you think you need to backtest everything in sight...
As far as memory drain, how old are your computers? You need
fast ones to keep up with the best traders in the world...
What I cannot figure out is: Does Sierra charts have tick, trin,
indexes, vix, advance-decline, russell 2000, ect? Or do you have
to get this somewhere else? From trying (and failing) I can't seem
to get anything. And for Sierra's demo, you only get to use what,
IBM, MSFT and INDU? Was up with that? You should tell the boys
at Sierra to at least put in ES, NQ, YM or ER2...
One more question: Once you have put a fibonacci on Sierra's
chart, how do you get rid of it? I can't even do that...
I know one thing, if you want a simple program, Sierra has to be
the winner!
