There is a ban on the federal government studying gun violence as a health issue, so no the CDC will not provide those numbers. Your ignorance is directly attributable to this ban. You’re posing because the CDC doesn’t post those numbers that my numbers must be wrong. This is the work of the NRA keeping you ignorant.

I apologize. It appears in March of 2018 the Dickey amendment was clarified and the cdc can now study gun violence.


Please understand there was a ban for the previous 20 years and I was accustomed to the cdc not being a primary source.

I have laid out my thoughts on common sense gun regulation in previous threads. I do support some regulation. The problem I have is that most liberal advocates for "gun control" are basically pushing for the total disarming of law abiding citizens and elimination of the second amendment.

My analysis is that two things have to happen 1. Gun owners have to rebel against the current nra reckless agenda. I am serious when I say the nra is evil and 2. Gun regulations are going to have come from republicans.

Until those two things happen we as a nation are at the mercy of the right with respect out of control gun violence.

So your argument is because we’ve let the problem get so bad it will take a very long time to clean it up so we should just continue to live in a country with mass shootings of children and gun violence being the second leading cause of death of children, on top of the 40,000 deaths yearly and the other thousands of victims that survive but are named, scarred, disabled, paralyzed and traumatized.

The solution certainly isn't to go after law abiding citizens and restrict them in some way. Why not focus on the reasons minorities (most of this is minority driven if you look at statistics - but you guys think this is racist to say) commit these crimes? Why not look at the breakdown of the family unit in African Americans? Why not look at mental health? It starts by blaming the individuals, not the objects.

Saying responsibility measures like licenses and registration is some sort of a burden is nonsense. There is supposed to be burdens with gun ownership, hence “well regulated.”

If I could trust that folks like you wouldn't use registration as a precursor to confiscation, I might consider it. But the truth is that time and time again, its been used as just that.

As to why people commit crimes, what are you talking about? When you look at crime in any part of the world, it will be associated with income. Go to a real estate site and click for income and crime in your town and you will see whether it’s a trailer park or bario the poorer the neighborhood the higher the crime rate. Crime and poverty are connected.

There’s a reason why Jesus said it is not a sin to steal to feed your family. It’s an old, old condition of humanity. Race is actually less of a factor than you think once you adjust for income.

There are absolutely zero calls on the left right now to get rid of your car or to remove voting. There are many, many calls to ban firearms from prominent democrats, including folks on this very forum.

And it is going after law abiding citizens because they'll be the only ones who will actually do this.

There's certainly a connection, but was Sandy Hook about income? How about the Orlando shooting? I can't think of a single mass shooting event (which, let's face it, is when the left gets all up in arms over guns) that was driven by poverty or income inequality.

Now gang violence, inner city violence, etc, I would grant you are directly linked to poverty. But why don't Asians who live in poverty have the same gun violence rates that blacks do? Why do hispanics far out number the crime percentages that you see with indian Americans? Huh.
